Druids and Metal Armor

Tackling the age old question, can a druid wear metal armor and what happens if they do?

Druids and Metal Armor

Because, while not common, magic non-metal armor does exist?

I read this as being clear and having nothing to do with player choice. Rule:. "A druid won't..." Action "This player did" Therefore "the player is NOT a druid" same as "sugar is sweet, this substance is not sweet, therefore this substance is not sugar"

Rule Zero: HAVE FUN. As for me druids not wearing metal, Is like a cleric's not doing something there god/goddess would approve of. It's not done and if a PC does it. There should be narrative consequences. I think the hate comes from the wording. Why say that Druids are proficient in medium armor, But "choose" not to wear 90% of medium armors. Where as in 3.5 there was clear consequences and a work around in Ironwood. Hell I played in a 3.5 game with a Druid/fighter that wore ironwood full-plate. Play as you want!

Great video. Also a great response from Resh why bother with medium armor proficiency in the first place. The whole metal armor thing affecting magic does not play well now.... as we have wizards in full plate. Perhaps IMO a good house rule could be you cannot wildshape in metal armor because all your gear is also transformed but metal armor cannot be. For some druids this become a fair consequence. Wear half plate and you cannot use wildshape. You could still use it to cast "maybe" find familiar but you cannot wildshape.

One thing I would have liked to hear more about in this was why even give Druids access to Medium Armor when Hide is their only basic choice RAW, which is an equivalent to worse selection than Studded Leather. It would be good to talk about the RAW options for them to make use of the proficiency that go beyond the basic armor limitations like Dragon Scale Mail and Living Armor. Maybe even getting into keeping an eye out for another creature whose armor could be fashioned into a natural medium armor. I didn't care for Druids very much until recently, just viewing Clerics better options for that role. I had to do some research and questioning to get a better feel for their place in D&D and this kind of information on the armor would have helped me a bit.
