I had a conversation with Pack Tactics

Thanks for the feedback. I agree it's not a comfortable conversation and I'm not happy with the way the conversation turned out. I've spoken with Pack Tactics and we're not going to release this publically on our channels.

Treantmonk's Temple

Yes, this was painful. Both broke the first rule of any productive conversation: listen to the other person. Chris talked over Pack Tactics, while Pack Tactics stopped listening, waiting to make his point. Honestly, I suggest you not air this video, Chris. Instead, I would summarize the points as you usually do in a solo video (FAR more viewer-friendly). Summary: • Both melee and ranged can have spells. Moot. • There are more spells like wrathful smite available to melee. Supports melee. • (Not mentioned) Because melee is likely to be the target of more attacks, they are more likely to drop concentration and waste turns re-casting. Requires war caster / resilient con. Supports ranged. • Melee can control the battlefield. Supports melee. • There are more options when in melee: grapple, knock prone... Supports melee. • Melee can shove creatures into battlefield control / spell effects like spike growth. Supports melee. • Melee can use its reaction: polearm master enemy enters range, attacks of opportunity. Supports melee. • Ranged can hit distant and flying (or grounded if flying) enemies. Supports ranged. • Archery fighting style. Supports ranged. • (Not mentioned) Nearly every other fighting style. Supports melee. • Pack Tactics' point that any party member can dodge while in melee. Moot • Pack Tactics' point that ranged characters can also tank / block the hall. Moot • Melee can disrupt allies' spellcasting by being in the area of effect. Supports ranged. • (Not mentioned) Melee can protect spell-casting allies. Supports melee. • Mounted combat. Supports melee. • The majority of combat happens indoors; melee can chase around corners. Supports melee. • Other creatures in line between ranged attacker and target grants target partial cover. Requires sharpshooter. Supports melee. • Ranged can take and benefit from cover. Supports ranged. • Vastly more melee magic items for melee. Supports melee. • Can achieve massive strength score with magic items (belts of giant kind). Supports melee. • (Not mentioned) There are more multiclass options available for melee. Supports melee. • (Not mentioned) Melee requires higher AC / HP. Supports ranged. Best line, Pack Tactics: "I'm always thinking about things. You'd have to. You'd be crazy not to. Think." Melee: 13 Ranged: 6

I believe each thought the discussion matter was clear.

Suggest to lay groundwork of the conversation ahead of time, this was a scattering and smattering of the battlefield of chit chat. Two dancers, one hearing waltz and the other death metal. Resh is correct - difficult to watch

Greg Smith

I immediately went and watched about 10 Pack Tactics videos, enjoying them immensely. If you play 3 rangers at a time, you really like ranged over melee. 🤗

This was painful to watch. Like a professor arguing their field of study with a high schooler whose main defense was refusing to acknowledge any points that undermined their position.
