Question to subscribers
Added 2021-04-30 21:19:01 +0000 UTCI've been posting my maps on Patreon for a year now. I don't remember a single time when someone asked me where and what to unpack. Whether it's the SFM version or Garry's Mod. I always write in the title that this is a version for both games at once. I always leave a full description of where and what to put.
Did anyone actually have a problem? Someone did not understand that inside, for example, there are two maps, one with the prefix gm_ the other sfm_ which means that one of them needs to be loaded into garry'smod, and the other, respectively, for SFM.
For SFM, I always make a separate folder where any fixes are located so that the card works correctly in SFM, for example, the same mirror without fixing will be pale and almost transparent.
I see no reason to make two separate archives, if the models and textures for these maps are similar, there is no point in loading a double weight or even two almost similar archives.
Sorry. I'm just "on fire". π₯

Yes. But just in case, this time I decided to leave the most complete guide right inside the archive, I even made a small video. But even that didn't seem to be enough. I don't want to post my personal correspondence. Take my word for it)

2021-05-01 11:27:06 +0000 UTCI think you're pretty good at explaining what's in the packs and how to extract and use them properly. While I don't think your work is for "complete newbies". I can assume if the person has some experience with GMod or SFM, they can make it work.

2021-05-01 02:04:00 +0000 UTCSFM is outdated for a long time, I have to downgrade maps, which I originally do under garry's mod. Cubemaps that Gmod generates are not compatible with SFM and it turns out something like this https://i.imgur.com/EHRozAt.png To prevent this from happening, I have to create a copy of the map, copy all the content and the map to alien swarm, generate cubemaps there, and only after that the map is ready to work with SFM. Also for sfm I have to do some texture fixes, I put them in a separate folder. Some old maps made for gmod are able to work correctly in sfm, but not modern ones. The development of gmod does not stand still, unlike sfm, which stopped way back in 2014.
