The Weaver Preorder Cancellation

If you preordered The Weaver, you might have already received (or will soon) an email from Amazon alerting you that it has been canceled. This is not a decision that we made lightly, and it’s something we’ve both been stressed about for quite some time. The main reason we were hesitant to cancel: we knew it would be a huge disappointment to you—our readers. We know how much you are anticipating this book.

Ultimately, it came down to knowing we would not be able to complete the book by the preorder date. We’ve had multiple things pop up including our kids’ birthdays, appointments, outside yardwork, and audiobooks we needed to finish before we go on vacation where we’ll be gone for a couple weeks. I also have carpal tunnel surgery scheduled for July.

You’d think that this should be easy after publishing 30+ books, right? Crazily enough, it’s only become harder to write. Burnout is horrible. Pressure has a lot to do with it. And with The Vrix, that pressure is pretty high. We want these books to be the best we can make them. We don’t want to rush them. But some stories come easier than others, and this one has been tough. We’re trying to find these character’s voices again and relearn this world (because there is a lot of information/worldbuilding involved). I also suffer from a huge case of imposter syndrome. There are days where we absolutely hate every word we write, and every word we type is like pulling teeth.

But writing isn’t the only thing we do. There is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes. Being indie authors means that all the things involved in the process of writing and publishing has to be handled by us. I run multiple social media platforms (marketing is hard, y’all), an Etsy store, and listen to hours upon hours of audios to make sure we get those audiobooks released for those of you who love those. (Tethered Souls was a whopping 23 hours!) I know many people have been begging for translations, but I am sweating at the thought of dipping our toes into that and the extra work that will be involved.

And this is on top of taking care of three kids (while trying (and usually failing) to take care of ourselves).

Again, we know many of you will be disappointed, and we hate that we are the cause of that as we know how many of you are excited for Rekosh and Ahmya’s story. We are sorry for that. But the book itself is not canceled. It’s just going to take more time. And once we get back from vacation (exhausted but recharged), we’ll be diving into The Weaver fulltime. While the preorder is canceled, the book is not. We just ask for patience, and thank you all so much for your support.
