Awesome reaction! Don't pay too much attention to what people say about this season. There's great stuff ahead and it's integral to the journey. Also to answer your question, yes, Dragon's Lair was a real video game! It was the first video game run on laser disk technology. The player controls a character named Dirk (a knight trying to rescue a princess) and controls the character's actions by selecting actions that flash on the screen (basically a precursor to quick-time actions in today's games). If the player selected wrong or was too slow, Dirk met a grisly fate. The animation in the game was done by Don Bluth's studios (Disney's top competitor back then). I played it way back during that time in the arcades and it was fun but also expensive; four quarters as opposed to most video games' quarter-per-play.
