This one was a real mind-bender. I don't even know where to start! Or finish! Was the start the finish? Or the finish the start?

I found myself thinking about this movie for a while after we watched it. It feels like one of those ones that rewards second/third/fourth viewings, but the first one was a real trip too! Wonderful performances, interesting story, and an all around great time!

Oh awesome, this list is great! Thank you for this!!

What other sci-fi movies are on your radar? The classic movies include "Forbidden Planet" (1957) "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (1951) "The Thing from Another World" (1951) "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1959) The 60s IMO had a small crop of great movies and a lot of pretty bad ones. You've seen "Planet of the Apes" the only other must-see is "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968). Fun IMO but still very 50s style was "Fantastic Voyage" (1966) The early 70s really took off after the success of the late 60s "Colossus: The Forbin Project" (1970) "The Andromeda Strain" (1971) "The Omega Man" (1971) "Escape From the Planet of the Apes" (1971) imo skip Beneath PotA and watch this one "Silent Running" (1972) "Soylent Green" (1973) "West World" (1973) "A Boy and His Dog" (1975) "Logan's Run" (1976) There are others like "Clockwork Orange", "Solaris", "Wizards" but this list covers a lot of ground and takes you up to the point when Star Trek movies, Star Wars, and Alien picked up the torch.

Time travel movies enjoy these situations where the people from the future cause their own past. This is one of the cool examples of that in story telling. In this movie I have always taken Cole's explanation that this has all happened already and nothing can be changed as the accurate story we should accept. He was selected for his missions because of his precise memory and his ability to cope with mental stress. So when he states this is how it happened, he's correct. Not true of other characters however. The Dr says she remembers him this way, but she doesn't.

Hadn't seen this is almost a decade. Still as good and weird as I remembered. Chandra and Jordan are right, this world is just gross. Everything is cold, wet and brown. It's like Steam Punk meets literal garbage. Everything rusted, dirty and full of tubes and other useless looking pieces. Great reaction.

So many of his movies are, especially for fans of "old school" like these two.

Also the movie clip about the cross section of the redwood tree ("That looks like an interesting movie") is from Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo and it's a MUST WATCH 🍿
