Today we've got a much more serious movie, Schindler's List. This was so heart wrenching, but now we get it - an absolute must watch. Steven Spielberg is clearly a very talented director. We've now seen a few of his other more light hearted and fun movies, so I was really surprised to see that he can also direct serious, true-story type films! Thank you again to everyone who recommended this movie to us. It's a difficult watch, but very necessary ❤️

Do you remember the older woman in the red dress in the episode "Why We FIght" on Band Of Brothers, the one Nixon finds in the house and then again during the cleanup of the concentration camp? Well thematically that woman in the camp is supposed to be the mirror opposite of the little girl in Schindler's List. The little girl represents the spirit of the Jews mudered by the Nazis, the older woman in the episode represents the German people who knew what was going on but did nothing (or were afraid to).

He was very flawed and on the path to being remembered like every other rich Nazi scumbag who propped up the party. But he followed a nagging voice telling him things were wrong and scorched all of his cash to make things right. That's gotta be a terrifying prospect for any person with lots of money and power... but he was financially supported by those he saved, and now is remembered as a legend. It's never too late to right the ship.

2025-05-20 20:53:52 +0000 UTCAs if there's not enough heartbreak going on in the context of the film, seeing that little girl in the red dress hauled away on a cart with other dead bodies was so obliterating. It was literally highlighting that the Nazis didn't see a difference between adult and child. Jews are Jews. It's horrendous.
