Before we meet Walt in season 1 episode 1, I think he did have confidence, swagger, as we see in flashbacks with Gretchen and when we see him looking at the house with Skylar. He thought he was going to be in that house for a few years because he had ambitions of making it big.

Oooo that's a very good point

“It’s not over until Jesse triumphantly yells ‘yeah, bitch’ “👍

I think the slippery slope argument about Walt makes the most sense. Remember in sesson 1, he was making a pros/cons list about whether or not to kill Crazy 8 in the basement. And he was going to let him go if he hasn’t noticed the shard of plate missing. FF to season 5…. no lists of pros and cons.

Aww thank you for your kind words! ❤️❤️❤️ I'm so happy you've been enjoying watching with us. And yes, absolutely hated Todd for what he did.

I really binged the heck out of the reactions for this show...now I gotta wait! haha. It's been fun though, I really enjoy reactions from you guys. I appreciate how into it you get. I do love comments on what is happening while you watch a series or a movie, you guys do that well, but the last reactions I watched, the people would just talk and talk and would go way off topic about personal life stuff. They'd completely miss important moments. I don't find that fun lol. You guys are chill and seem genuinely into it. :) I started watching Breaking Bad for the first time early this year. and man I was amazed it took me this long. I remember seeing previews back when the show aired, it's completely not how I thought it would be lol. I was like "Ah, a show about people making meth. Likely a 'biker gang' criminal documentary-adjacent show or whatever. No thanks.", sounded boring lol. But man, I wish I had given it a chance. It's too good. This episode was exciting, the train robbery was very intense. Also, I got excited about the Flagstaff Arizona mention. That's my hometown haha! I don't see that often at all. (also yes, freight trains run and stop through their all the time, so, accuracy!) Great episode. The ending was very shocking and messed up though. I hated Todd for that! Looking forward to you guys seeing the rest of the show!

Draethius

Whoa, I missed all that symbolism!

Chandra

That's awesome you know that!

Jesse did say no one can find out... Jesse's character arc over this whole show is remarkable. He's unrecognizable from the stonebag you meet in season 1. For that final sequence I love how much time they spend on the train coming down the tracks, it really sets the tone for the scene and builds tension beautifully- nothing feels rushed or drawn-out. It looks like an old western- with Heisenberg being the Jesse James. I also like the correlation between Todd & the tarantula and how they took opposite decisions when placed in similar situations. In the beginning the spider has a perfect opportunity to bite Drew & at least try to escape being caught in the jar. Todd is also given an opportunity to hurt Drew so they don't get caught, and he does so. Todd is presented as scarier or more of a threat than the spider. At the end the spider is trapped in the jar & Todd is a free man...

Justin

As a guy who kept tarantulas as pets for years, this one always hits extra hard. You CAN find tarantulas in the American desert... just not that particular species. Only spider nerds would notice that, though. :P

Poor Jesse looked to Walt just at the wrong time. As he glanced away, Todd pulled his gun. Such a wild episode. Todd was doing as he was told. Jesse himself told him nobody else can know :O

True, you make a good point. As far as digging it up, they could have come back at night to do that. The equipment though, yeah, they would have needed to get that out of there... Poor kid.

Walt being less greedy wouldn't have made a difference. They still had equipment to break down / gather up, which would have taken longer than the 30 seconds or so of extra siphoning. And that's not even taking into account that they needed to dig up the tank of methylamine.

GhostCat

This is something you'll see me say a lot: Fuck Todd. But also, if Walt hadn't been greedy, wanting the tank filled to the very tippy top, they would have been out of there before the kid showed up. Still, fuck Todd.
