Rise Guys — Fun Facts

1. Dennis DeMille, who blessed this song with his beautiful velvet baritone, originally auditioned for… It Just Works. We thought that’s probably not how Todd Howard should sound like, but kept Dennis in mind for future projects.

2. The song was written back in 2020 when people still actually played Fall Guys. It was recorded and finalised in early 2021. But.

3. Initially the video was supposed to be a 3D animated cinematic, but after years of trying to work with different animators we ended up not getting it. So we decided to do a 2D lyric video with a part of in-house crew.

4. Hunternif, the lead artist on this project, was also the lead artist on Doom Crossing’s Doom sequence. That’s where the whole oil painting style came from.

5. As many of you noticed, the music video features some characters who appeared on our previous works. But what you didn’t know is that there also are some characters who came there from our upcoming MVs ;)

6. Idea of making a Fall Guys song a bluesy ballad came after the first launch trailer of the game which featured a 1956 pop song “Hot Diggity” by Perry Como. Al found the combination of overly colourful beans and Como’s sexy old-school vocals extremely charming, so he decided to take the idea to the extreme.

7. For this production Tim collaborated with his friend Dmitry Kovzel to make an old-school ballad arrangement. Dmitry specialises in similar genres, and in fact both Chalks’ producers Tim and Ergy used to play jazz renditions of the Soviet pop hits in Kovzel’s band.

8. Drummer Jordan Perlson was so good for this song that he actually recorded it twice. The band decided that the first attempt was a little bit too good so we asked him to play worse.

9. Like always, the choir close to the end of the song was recorded by The Chalks’ crew and their friends. But this time it was supposed to be almost an a capella, so you can clearly hear some cute Russian accent there. Also since we all live in different countries now, this is probably the last released song for which we could come together to record a choir, which is really sad. :(

10. Al was very upset when he found out that Mediatonic fixed the Fall Guys’ names in the Steam version of the game: the lines “we may never find out those heroes’ names: Fall Guy 2611, Fall Guy 1337…” didn’t make sense anymore. We decided to keep it anyway because why not it’s still funny.
