As I said, I like the show a lot... And it's kind of fascinating, in an obnoxious way, the reasons some critics on RT and the like have found to give it middling reviews, particularly in light of some of the utter dreck that's allowed to slide. It's family-friendly. Its episodes are short, and don't weigh themselves down with constantly referencing and advancing an over-plot. It doesn't call out the minstrel-show aesthetics that influenced its source material. (Heavens preserve us.) It's like they went out of their way to push the stereotype of critics as pretentious gate-keepers who hate fun.

This is one of those times where I REALLY wish I had a Netflix subscription, because-as I expected-I'm missing out on a good time with The Cuphead Show. Since Netflix has been killing it with their video game adaptations (maybe there's hope for Sonic Prime...we'll see), it's great to hear that Cuphead has been quite a joy for you to watch so far. The characters we love, the 1930s style that is great to see, the nice animation and story (and yes, the people who are complaining about the animation not being done on ones should just chillax and enjoy the show for what it is)...it's easy to see that this one was worth the long wait. Between this, the equally long-awaited Cuphead DLC, and the fifth anniversary of the game itself, 2022 is quite a big year for Cuphead. Here's to hoping the other seasons bring you just as much joy as this one did, and fingers crossed that I, too, will get a chance to check it out sometime either on Netflix or-if we're lucky-on DVD/Blu-Ray.
Oh, and may I add that I am absolutely EXCITED to hear that you're working on a What RUINED Fleischer Studios video. Having watched numerous Fleischer cartoons and learning about his career since I was a child, I feel that the story of the rise and fall of Max Fleischer-one of the amazing pioneers of animation-is one that deserves to be shared by you. Since The Cuphead Show shares a lot with the Fleischer cartoons-even using the awesome Stereoptical Camera to place the 2D characters in front of 3D environments (it's fantastic how they were able to pull that off some 90 years ago!)-and because The Cuphead Show inspired you to start going full throttle into the research for the video, it's going to be an epic one. I'm sure this project will be quite the undertaking, but whenever it comes our way-however long it takes-I'll be there to enjoy every nanosecond of it!
Have a good weekend, Saber, and see you around! =)
