They look like those "cartoon yourself!" things you used to see on Facebook. I guess that's kind of the summary of the thing: it looks like something a casual user would be *so* impressed that they were able to do for themselves with a photo and a few keystrokes. If they spoke with monotone computer voices, the effect would be complete. Instead, they got actual actors!... to yell into a Zoom session. And even still, it might be impressive, if the script was good (or was the product of clever improv), and it was on YouTube. Look at what this small team did! Isn't it amazing what you can do today with some basic software and a can-do attitude! Oh, wait... This had the company that owns Paramount behind it, and a team, and professional writers, and they greenlit it for a major cable network, and it STILL turned out like this? Oof.

2022-02-25 05:24:19 +0000 UTCOver the past few months, we've seen some adult-animated cartoons that prove that not all of them have to be Family Guy clones or full of unfunny humor. Inside Job, Smiling Friends, Arcane...all living proof that it is still possible to make quality cartoons for adults to enjoy. Sadly, these shows seem to be the exception rather than the rule, and Fairview winds up being just another cringeworthy cartoon that appeals to no one. Where to begin with this garbage? How about the Weeble-style character designs? What about the lack of humorous jokes? How about being topical without being clever at the same time? The show is guilty of all these and more besides...it's as if the people behind the show learned nothing from what made The Prince so unwatchable. I guess Viacom is to be commended for trying to keep Comedy Central up and running with new shows even as they add new content to Paramount+, but if they keep adding trash like this, I feel that the future for the network could be a bleak one. I can see why Fairview is the worst cartoon you've seen so far this year, and I don't blame you for hating it more and more with each viewing. The trailer that we saw on Twitch the other week was awful enough, but the full show is infinitly worse. People should just check out some other, way BETTER adult animated shows-past and present-and never set foot in Fairview. I wouldn't be surprised if, like The Prince, this one gets the axe after one season! I'll see you soon for Cuphead, which could only be a pleasant palette cleanser for you after Fairview.
