Fear and Loathing in Every City

My boyfriend hates being in crowded places, and every public place with more than 3 people in it is too crowded. He starts taking psychic damage immediately. He doesn't actually start monologuing about how much he hates it there, though, he just starts to silently suffer. That is not much better.

Everything was going great until all the other people showed up!

Earplugs help! There's special ones, too, if you want to filter out background noise but still be able to talk to someone (Loop Engage, for example- although I haven't tried those, I just have some generic ones for music shows).

Blue is my spirit animal. Man, I feel that monologue so deeply!

Dang public in their public spaces, mutter mutter mutter.

I feel the same way! If there's some distance between me and the crowds, it's fine, but if I'm too close, it feels like drowning in too many people.

It's the din of a lot of people talking at once that drives me batty. My mind wants to try and sort it out into individual conversations. I have to actually concentrate on ignoring everything but what's going on in my immediate vicinity and that's just mentally exhausting.

Introverts, hypersensitive or social anxious people are like that. I absolutely feel with your boyfriend. Too many people are just exhausting.

I, too, hate going out in public when the public is there. LOL
