Out of all my DIY projects, I actually managed to finish one! I didn't think to take any before -pictures, but it was originally just an ordinary, very plain and unadorned solid grey Lenovo laptop bag, which I didn't really love even when I bought it five years ago, but I sure am happier with it now!
The shiny markings on the moth that apparently look blue in these photos are reflective fabric, which I got from my boyfriend's mom. Having some sort of reflector on you is very important for traffic safety in the north. 100% of the studs were simply stuff that I had laying around, save for the big ones that I got from a purse I found at a thrift shop and took apart for this purpose (last picture is the bag while at the thrift shop).
In other updates, our christmas went well, and I'll be going to see my friends again for New Year's. My boyfriend is recovering from his infection with antibiotics and frequent wound dressing changes - it's going to take a few months but he's going to make a full recovery. Fortunately his mom is a nurse and knows how to handle these things, and with me and his family around, there's a whole team to make sure that he's cared for. He is not a fan of being helped and fussed over, but he's being very brave about it.
