So Birth...What to do?

Alright, here is the post I mentioned a couple of days ago about the end of pregnancy/birth and what should happen with the evil children you spawn into the game's world.

Now, my original idea a long while back was that after you gave birth to your offspring they would be sent to the Withered Snag to be taken care of (so you could go back and visit them whenever you wanted) --- unfortunately, this wouldn't make much sense in either the game's world or from a storytelling perspective. A member on Discord also suggested that maybe after you give birth some traveler would take your baby away from you and bring them some place ---- I dunno.

So send me your ideas, maybe you have thought of something that I haven't considered!

What would you like to happen to your children after you give birth to them. ((And no, you can't amast an army of child-like followers to fight for you xD))

I agree, I actually prefer to stay busy when possible. Sounds like you're finding a balance that works for everyone, that's always a good thing. It can sometimes be difficult to strike that balance. Glad that I can be of service. And you're right, us indie devs end up making it up as we go along most of the time, and its incredibly nice when a few of us can help each other along. :D

Busy can be good ^_^ As long as you are taking the time to smell the roses so to speak. And yup, I've been doing everything I can for them and they understand that I'm kinda pulled thin atm. We talked before the semester even started that things could get hectic in October and November. So we've definitely been communicating as much as possible. And yes, it can be exhausting! @_@ I appreciate you weighing in, I hope you feel free to do so anytime you want. You're always welcome to share your opinion, thoughts and any good news if you like ^_^ Also, if you need someone to talk with about anything I'll do my best to be there for ya too. We indie devs need to stick together. Anonynn.

As usual, things are good but all too busy! Just remember when you're being pulled in more than one direction, family ALWAYS comes first. No matter how busy one gets, we have to remember to find a moment for those we care for the most. That said, I hope you can get everything under control soon, it can be exhausting when you've got too much going on all at once. Glad I could be of some service with your birthing issue.

But yeah, having people trying to breed the right babies would definitely be a cool aspect to add as well. Sorry I overlooked that last line x)

Thanks for commenting, Cogius. ^_^ Yup, there are actually two towns planned for the player to settle down in for a while if they choose/a place they can stay for a while to gather up some supplies and attend celebrations for holidays, etc. The problem with having Hannah's help is that, she won't really be around after the remaster is finished. I have big plans for her and Rold. ^_~ With that said though, the children you have in the towns (at least what I'm trying to plan) will actually stay with the player in their place of residence. So you can actually watch your kids age a little bit before you are obliterated by the Void. :P But we'll see. That is one of the next major areas, me thinks, but I'll have to consult the map again to know for sure. Anonynn.

Hey Lightning :) I do have that giant Skill Tree set aside for after the remastered areas are finished. It would be simple to add an ability that actually calls upon your feral children or something like that which has them aid you for a couple of turns or something. Good idea! I'll have to write that down. But yeah the number of options seems to be the best route so far. Anonynn.

LOL! Oh Marr xD I do like that idea though about splitting the babies up in alignment or feral/sentience. That's definitely an idea worth looking more into. I would need to figure out the Temple thing if I went that route. We'll see though! It's always a possibility as like a joke achievement or something like that... Congrations! You done it! Achievement Unlocked "Overflowing Orphanage" or "Orphan the Orphans!" Something like that LOL Anonynn.

Hey! Thanks for the input, Auril! I wish you were on Discord more often. I miss you and Jealco a lot but hey all three of us are super busy with jobs and everything else going on so it's completely understandable. I wonder...you gave me an idea that draws upon what Team Aftermath said....I wonder if the person who shows up to take your children could also assess/diagnose what your kid's alignment is, if they are feral or sentient etc. I think that would be a cool little addition to connect the player more to the world and it's people. Anonynn.

Hey! I'm glad to see you're still doing well. I've been meaning to PM you as well but this semester is running me ragged. I've never been pulled in so many different directions at once before so it's a bit overwhelming and extremely exhausting. I'm trying to keep up with work on the game, manage my family, create lesson plans and units from scratch, manage meetings and classes....ugh! It's very stressful. I hope things are going better on your end. ^_^ As for your suggestion, I think that's a really good idea. So maybe make like some kind of randomization where some of your kids end up feral and the others end up either good or even depending on the player's corruption levels and/or sentient enough to be taken care of at some specific area. I like. It would also be easy to incorporate the baby thing too and someone showing up to give your kid a good home. But yeah that makes total sense! I appreciate the feedback and the suggestion it's very helpful since I was at a complete loss for how to handle the birthing. Let me know how things are going too! :D Anonynn.

you said in a stream that a hub town was down the line in which the settle-down live your life kind of thing would be an option so the hub could have an orphanage but as you are looking for a shorter term solution and since your not going to find trustworthy people in a monster infested forest the goblin girl could be concerned for you as she already is and give an item that sends kids to safety if you bring up the subject to her.

You could always implement a combination of options. Now, depending on the traits of these children you may or may not even consider options for the fast maturing species of children to maybe have them as some sort of follower type or something. It's been done in another game which I'm sure those of you playing the adult games with tf elements should know or have heard of at least. I won't name it here but they do include a children combo attack with the right feats and enough children to trigger during combat in the single player game.

Building on the prior ideas- split the different possible children into chaos, order, altruistic, selfish or whatever divide sounds best. Then let the sheer number of babies of those races determine at the end of the game which temples succeeded. :D Drive people nuts trying to breed the right babies. <3

Marr

" (Certain temples?) to having some random traveler appear robed to talk to you, expressing that they can find the child a good home, and at some point in the conversation you would figure out that the traveler is of the same species as the infant. " I've ..been thinking something along these lines as well actually

Auril

We havent talked for a little while (Been meaning to PM you to see how you've been, . . . ) but when I saw this I figured I could share some ideas: First, with pregnancy, what about different results for different critters? Some of them might vanish into the night if they are animalistic, things that are evil but sentient could have anything from a place they can be dropped off (Certain temples?) to having some random traveler appear robed to talk to you, expressing that they can find the child a good home, and at some point in the conversation you would figure out that the traveler is of the same species as the infant. (Granted, that's just a more specific version of what you already mentioned.) Really, a lot of it depends on what is normal for the species. One or two options for each baby type might be fun and offer a host of possibilities for how infants are handled. If that makes sense?
