Sudden recall
Added 2024-05-16 14:57:20 +0000 UTCI had been trying to remember for hours, I remembered exactly what kind of music it was and the singer's distinctive style of singing, but for the life of me couldn't remember the name of one single song, or even enough lyrics to google it. My brain kept suggesting "Coldplay", but it wasn't it. Then I remembered that it had a V somewhere in the name - Volbeat! My brain kept suggesting "Coldplay" because the second-letter O is pronounced the same way in both names!
Also yes I startled the living hell out of my boyfriend, too. I didn't just yell, I put my finger up and for a second he thought I was pointing at something on the road.

I was sitting alone in my room one night years ago, like 3am, and suddenly blurted out some actor’s name. Had nothing to do with what I was doing, but it came with that “ahh, I’ve solved the puzzle” brain relief. Had to wrack my brain for a while to finally realize I’d resolved a mental block from a phone conversation with my sister from THREE DAYS PRIOR that I’d completely forgotten by the time the name popped out of my mouth. Brains, gotta love ‘em.

2024-05-16 18:26:45 +0000 UTCHuman memory has a retrieval problem that only gets worse as I learn more and get older. I knew a word meaning I wanted, "influence", and said "manipulate" instead. That did not improve the relationship with my last doctor at all. Also, my memories of driving in Scotland have me on the right side of the road instead of the left in the places that were wide enough for more than 1 lane. Sigh. (edited)
