Litany against unhelpful suggestions
Added 2023-11-09 10:32:02 +0000 UTCI have a really bad habit of trying to suggest solutions when someone just wants to vent. Despite of knowing how annoying it was being raised like that - not allowed to complain unless I was looking for solutions - it doesn't come naturally to me to just let people complain.

2023-11-11 03:41:34 +0000 UTCI thought that's just my flavour of autism, not getting that in most cases nobody wants me to solve their problem. Now I just ask if it's a rant or a question, and act accordingly.

2023-11-10 00:52:38 +0000 UTCI once read that unsolicited advice is criticism, and I think that can be a useful framing. While it's rarely MEANT that way, that doesn't change how it's usually RECEIVED: as implying they can't figure out a solution on their own.
