Howdy all. This is the second-to-last chapter o

Tyr is going to be interesting to write. He's a general, to be sure, but he's one that likes to act as if he is not above the fray, the lead from the front type. I think that you will be surprised the route the discussion goes and begins. Glad you enjoyed the fights. Making them all different was tough, as was keeping in mind the number of spells Edwina and Viconia had. I think I might have failed occasionally there, but I'm glad it worked out. I also wanted to show that while they were a BIG part in the defense there were others just as important, if not more so. And that adamantine golems are F-ing scary. Yes, the majority of the characters involved will level up. I will need to go back and look that over carefully to get them all to the point they should be. In fact, I will need to go over that throughout. Make certain everything is internally consistent. I am uncertain new things will unlcok with the AAS for the entire party, but for Harry, yes. We will see on that score.

Honestly, I am glad that the scene between Harry and Týr was not in this chapter as I personally feel that it might have taken away from the urgency of the chapter. Plus, it felt like an anime or cartoon where the hero enters the fray and now, he has a powerup that helps him win the day and while everyone is recovering tells them of his journey before they tell the hero what occurred without him there. This conversation between Harry and Týr is going to be interesting just for the content but after the conversation with the gods in chapter 13 it did make the most sense for it to be Týr. What I am also interested in seeing is how this happens; does Harry take a rest and fall asleep for a moment and get pulled to Týr, does he collapse in the middle of the road out of exhaustion and is then given the strength to move forward again, or does he push through the exhaustion and Týr is there beside him bolstering and speeding him along. What I enjoyed from the fights and the defence of Beregost was the way that you balanced every encounter to feel important and to have weight behind them, for them to feel deadly and one wrong attack or a misstep it could have spelt the end for the squads. It was also nice to see that there was not the same lack of communication and frantic behaviour when the group last split up like when Harry and Jaheira were separated from the group. I also enjoyed the fact that the battle was based around defence of Beregost and the plans that went into defending the town especially because I find that it is not often, we see the heroes defending a location. I hope after this battle that the characters will level up and we can see them becoming stronger and deepening their abilities as well as becoming the heroes of Beregost which could mean that they have a place to stay forever and have discounts or preferential treatment from merchants. Without knowing the ‘relationship stats’ between everyone I think this could also be one of the moments that new things could be unlocked through the AAS (new abilities, spells, or partial unlocking of curses).

that... the whole god thing... that's something i might need to put to a vote. If I do, I'll give you props for giving me the idea. And yeah, I wish it was more popular.

They did not gain any active skills from Viconia, Jaheira or Alura. You're right that I should explain how certain skills can be shared. I think I only explained that in detail once. So the next chapter would be a good place to remind/re-explain it. There are reasons, and yes, not being a high enough level fighter was one for the Shield Bash. Strength, dexterity, etc can also block learning techniques. Buffs are more personal, and I don't think i've had them shared across characters. Turn Undead is an activated technique that, as party leader, he can create around his whole party. Viconia couldn't do the same for multiple reasons. One of the biggest issues I have with the original is how passive Harry was. Even a young child should realize after the second year at least that he needs to be proactive. That and his lack of drive when it came to education. Made no sense. I try to correct those. This Harry is growing over time, whereas in ATP he had been a leader and just became one again on a larger scale.could explain the others, but not necessary LOL. He's never going to be very happy giving orders to people outside his party, but he is going to do everything he can for those people.

I loved this chapter. Especially seeing Imoen leading her group. You did a great job showing how effective traps can be and how preparing the battlefield is a true game changer. Even Edwina was all about setting an ambush she could. Harry’s entrance and battle was great. He was bad ass and I actually like the fact that he lost, but still bought time for the high level mage to appear. I’ve been doing a reread since this won the poll. I saw that you had Harry use cleave this chapter. This is one thing that I think you can be more consistent in with the AAS. Do individual member skills still carry over? In chapter 2 when Imoen joined the party Harry got the passive bonus of “Fight like a Jack Rabbit” and Imoen would emit the Turn Undead Aura when Harry activated it. You also had Harry getting Back Stab from her and even showed Khalid and Minsc using Back Stab. Does that still apply? Harry was supposed to learn Shield Bash from Khalid when he joined the Party, but several times afterwards you had Harry attempting it but not being able to. Once you said it was bc he wasn’t a high enough level fighter. From Minsc he got some sort of woodland knowledge too that has appeared a couple times. Did the Party gain any passive or active skills from when Viconia, Jaheira, and Alura became full Party members? This is a very cool ability of the AAS and should be used more and shown that it applies to all full party members not just Harry. Forcing into the chapter would be tedious but a quick synopsis of everyone’s levels and general stats would be great. Maybe as a separate read alone thing. One of my favorite stories you have going right now. I like the leader Harry very much. In ATP, MoF, and Filthy Harry is a leader but is so broadly strong and capable he always is the star. This story has a much more team focus. Harry is always a leader in your stories but here even more so.

got to say great fight and all round I am loving what you have been adding to the story fromt he game, really helps build it all, as to Imoen going down could be intresting to see how Tonks handles coming back from the dead or even if she got to talk with some of the gods while out. keep the fic coming and I hope more people start to take an intrest in it so it can be updated more.
