Further experiments with Saint Olms
Added 2021-04-27 08:04:33 +0000 UTCAfter the leather version of this bookmark design didn't work out, I wanted to try again in a different medium: veneer. Veneer is basically super thin wood. Walnut, in this case. I glued together two parts for added stability before cutting and engraving on the glowforge.
While I like of overall look of this, the engraved bits just need a little something extra. Maybe a dark oil wash to make them recede? Or a bright silver to make them stand out?

Nice, dark walnut like this pairs very well with gold accents also, so that's also an option.
