Summer!

My summer was dope! I spent a lot of time at open mics reading some poetry I wrote which has been frightening and rewarding. I think I'm starting to get a little bit more comfortable in front of a mic, and will hopefully play a song I wrote for people before the year is over! Also I went to all the concerts in the world! Best new thing I got into from this summer was Old Stock, by Ben Caplan. It was his new concept album that came out this summer about Jewish immigrants coming to Canada and finding love and experiencing the tragedy of antisemitism. It is beautiful, funny, and deeply moving and everyone should listen to it!

My summer has been something! I’ve spent most of it babysitting my 3 year old nephew who is just in toilet training, which is...challenging lmao I went to a confidence building course and made big steps with my social anxiety (and all 4 medical conditions are almost in agreement to work together haha) I saw two drag shows a few weeks ago and met drag queens Aquaria and Courtney Act, it was the best nights of my year!! I’ve been exploring the Edinburgh Fringe Festival too which is amazing obvi and I’m going on a spa day tomorrow☺️ As for shows, I got really into Queer Eye, Pose, Glow and finally finished The Crown🙌🏻 (also like we mentioned last night, Set it Up which is my new favourite movie and Zoey Deutch is my wife)

I’m live in Australia but my 21st birthday present was SDCC tickets, so I went to USA for about 2 weeks. Meaning I was luckily able to escape the winter where it was 12 degrees C to -4C (like 24F to 56 F) and enjoy summertime. I love that I got to experience SDCC, Disneyland CA, Warner Bros tour, seeing Anastasia on Broadway, sightseeing in New York and trying a bunch of the food chains I always heard youtubers talk about that don’t exist in Aus. It was a great way to spend my 2 weeks off from university.

Work has been taking up a lot of my time but I recently bought Injustice:Gods among us year one and I hope to finally read it soon instead of just flip through it. I own the game and enjoyed playing it even though its a button masher. Today I also picked up a worn copy of a Calvin and Hobbes collection called Attack of the deranged mutant killer monster snow goons( super long title) that I’ll read on my down time. As an aside, I took the time to repair the front cover and the binding as best I can. Books deserve love and care too.

Since I’ve been done with school for a while “summer vacation” doesn’t quite feel like it used to so this particular summer I’ve made it as fun as possible. I spent a majority of my summer working but I did that so I can enjoy 4 trips to Disneyland (my sister is a dancer in the parades so I had to see her as much as I could), a wedding, seeing Paramore and my favorite drag queen Trixie Mattel in concert, and buying a new car! (I’m so tired)

As for shows, I got super into Netflix's LOVE (Judd Apatow production), Barry (HBO) , Cloak and Dagger were the top 3 that stood out to binge on.. As for hobbies, swimming has became my favorite workout, want to do it all the time . Im reading The History of Ice And Fire, seems good so far!!!
