The Watchers Gate

Bharzul is uniquely located within the Dawn Lands of Cartosia. Behind the city’s northern wall is the great Moribund Sea, filled with all manner of pirates, dangerous beasts and unknown leviathans. To the East and West are the Epicouatl mountains, impassable save for a few known routes many hundreds of miles away. Directly to the South is an almost sheer drop for thousands of feet.
A narrow, carved stone stair, known as the Steps of Agony, winds its way up the southern cliffside, but it is constantly soaked in spray from the Moribund Falls, making it treacherous at best. Any approach to the city is deadly, making it one of the best protected places on the continent.
Despite this, the dwarves have spent centuries perfecting their own methods of defence, should the natural barriers ever prove ineffective. While visitors are permitted if they can make the journey, particularly for trade, the native dwarves and their kin almost never leave. They have watched civilisation completely crumble around them twice in their history and know that their impenetrable citadel is all that saved them from the same fate.
The Watchers Gate greets any who make the climb up the Steps of Agony. The last few hundred feet widen out into a grand staircase flanked by bronze statues of soldiers. The gate is part of the gold tipped wall that surrounds the city, a hundred feet tall and over fifty feet thick. Two enormous statues of ancient dwarven warriors wielding the legendary armaments of Bharzul gaze down on anyone approaching. It is believed that if the city were ever under attack, the bronze warriors and their army of soldiers would awaken and fight to defend it.

The Lords Road

The Lords Road is the main avenue through the city of Bharzul, leading directly north from the Watchers Gate all the way to the Stone Palace. It gradually slopes upwards the entire length, connecting the various levels of the mountaintop city.
The Lords Road showcases much of the Dwarves wealth and talents. The wide avenue is lined with ornate statues and sculptures made from bronze and gold, the road itself is inlaid with marble and precious metals formed into grand ornate patterns. During holidays and festivals, parades are put on here to entertain the populace. Raised podiums on either side provide a vantage point for the audience to overlook the area. These are also frequented throughout the year as casual meeting places.
Like much of the city it has a secondary defensive use. Any attacking force that did somehow manage to breach the gate would be funnelled along this route, always downhill from the defenders. Lightweight, mobile artillery and barricades are stashed along the road and can be deployed onto it within minutes of an alarm being sounded, something practiced regularly by the city’s guard.\

Rohr’s Shack - Seer Rohr is a mysterious figure, she is rarely seen outside of her shop. The sign above the shop door bears no name, only a hard to make out painted image. Some think it looks like a butterfly, while others swear it is a skull. Most are unsure. Rohr claims to be able to tell your future simply by looking into your eyes, but many believe her to be a charlatan. The trinkets and potions she sells are obvious fakes and few if any of her prophecies have come true, except for one that she doesn't even remember making.
Artemis’ Workshop - Artemis Phycer is a renowned tinkerer and craftsman. He creates and sells everything from simple children's toys to combat enhancing prostheses, with stock changing on an almost weekly basis depending on where his current obsession lies. In particular he loves to be challenged by complex commissions, so if you are looking for something unique, Artemis might be your guy.

Baleine Casino Interior Scene

Located in the cultural quarter of the city is the infamous Baleine Casino. The proprietor, Artor Cetasai, is outwardly a very gregarious fellow, well known for the lavish parties he throws in the Baleine’s ballroom. However, those who know him well would describe an astute businessman who only spends money when a return on investment is all but guaranteed. His parties and affable nature are simply a way to ensure the most influential and wealthiest socialites continue to spend money in the casino, and be seen doing so.
Cetasai has recently come to believe someone is cheating him. His profits are vastly down and a string of previously unknown clientele have recently come into the casino for a single night and won big. None of the cases seem connected, but Artor believes in coincidence almost as little as he believes in luck. The Casino has a state-of-the-art arcane detection system, so it is almost impossible that someone could be using magic to hoodwink his croupiers, and the only other explanation is an inside job.
Cetasai has quietly put out the word that he is looking for a group of investigators to pose as wealthy newcomers at a party he is hosting at the casino, in the hopes that they will help him root out the source and discover how they have been able to circumvent his security measures.

Boldin's Beard Oil
Wondrous item, uncommon
If there’s one thing that many people know about the dwarves, it’s that they have illustrious beards that serve as a point of pride for many of them. Many of them have even taken to adopting complex rituals meant for keeping their facial hair in top shape and pruned to perfection. One dwarf in particular, Boldin, has created a whole line of facial hair care products like this beard oil.
This container has enough beard oil for 8 uses when it is found. It smells strongly of mint with just a hint of grease underneath. It is slippery to the touch and tingles slightly when applied to skin.
You can use an action to apply this beard oil to your face letting it magically infuse the follicles within. Over the next minute a thick and luxurious beard grows to a length of 3 inches. If you already have a beard, then its length grows by 3 inches instead. While you have this beard, raise your Constitution score by +2 to a maximum of 20. Additionally, you gain resistance to poison damage and an odd affinity for stone. This extra beard length is superficial and falls away after 4 hours.
