I remember people discussing the trans theory in middle school back in 2013. It didn't just pop up out of nowhere 20 years later. They clearly didn't want to be scrutinized for their very personal journeys. Once they were comfortable with themselves they addressed it. I don't see how you could have a problem with this unless you put too much stock into what other people are saying and not you're own thought processes on the subject matter are. It's very lazy in a conservative way to just say, they hopped on the trans band wagon when they were clearly going through their own journey while making those movies. The connections have been made more clear as the years have gone on, yes, but that's how time works my dudes. We keep going and elarning abiut us, the things we've done and why we did them. I'm happy the fires didn't make yall any less alive, I like it here

So for them to say they were inspired by it is totally fine. Even if they didn't realise it at the time. ESPECIALLY if they didn't realise it at the time.
