This Patreon is shutting down...

What with one thing and another (various health issues, spending a year dealing with feral cats, Hurricane Beryl dropping a tree on my house, my convention-vendor business van getting totalled, and of course the regular running of that business and occasional household emergencies), I have written a grand total of 11,000 words in 2024. Only about 800 of them were on the Peter is the Wolf novel.

The simple fact is, I haven't had time or energy to concentrate on writing this year, except ...

Peter is the Wolf Chapter 2 Part 3

Fourteen months to write eight hundred words. 2024 has been one of my least creative years ever, but more on that in the next post...

It’s difficult to stay scared of a gigantic wolf monster when it spends a quarter hour chasing its tail.

“Shouldn’t she be dizzy by now?” Jean asked.

“I’m getting dizzy just watching her,” Peter said, hands in his jacket pockets, fully relaxed.

“I don’t get how s...

Been a little sick and a lot busy...

As I type this I'm in Kansas City, on the second of three weekends I'm spending 600+ miles away from home.

In addition to preparation for these trips and all the other things, I've been dealing with seasonal allergies, which when they hit make it impossible for me to write

That's why nothing's come out the past few weeks.

I hope to resume work on this in November. Sorry for the delay.

PitW Book 1 Chapter 2 Part 2

Next post probably during the day Wednesday.

My parents didn’t tell me everything about thralls, obviously. I think we’ve made that clear. But they (and by they I mean Mom) didn’t tell me nothing about them.

The word thrall is from either Old Norse or Old German, and it means “slave”. Humans applied it to werewolves a couple hundred years ago or so. Specifically, it applies to humans who, deliberately or not, get infected with lycanthropy, ...

PitW Book 1 Chapter 2 Part 1

Well, I lost two days to a sinus infection and a third to restock order work, so I still owe you another update this week, in addition to this one, to fulfill my promises.

Time to meet the 'rents.

Chapter 2

You humans have some weird legends about weres in general and werewolves especially. One of them is this idea that we werewolves are solitary, lonely creatures, and... well, that’s just dumb. There’s NEVER just one werewolf. In f...

Peter is the Wolf Book 1 Chapter 1 Part 4

Well, this took a while, mostly because I was busy as hell. But here it is.

I'll release another snippet towards the end of this week to catch up.

Meanwhile, here's Sarah's first transformation.

Before that night, Jean and I had never seen a thrall.

What we did know, though, was little were kids. We’d seen them. We’d been them. And the thing is, it takes a really long time for a little kid were to get control...

I should have known better.

Since the last post, I've written three paragraphs.

I've also cooked myself unloading a van in 100+ temps (F), built booth until my back screamed at me to stop, and am currently in bed in my hotel as the muscle relaxant slowly kicks in. The heat headache, unfortunately, is not going away.

I'll keep plugging at this and get it posted as soon as I can.

Running late, to no one's surprise

I got nothing done writing-wise yesterday, and the next snippet is due to be a long one (Sarah's first transformation), and today is final prep and loading for San Japan.

Will write as I can today and tomorrow night and post overnight Thursday night.

Peter is the Wolf Novel Book 1, Ch. 1 Part 3

The park I met Jean in- and, for that matter, the park our pack hold our Howls in when weather permits- is on the far northwest side of town, up in the hills.

My girlfriend’s family- you’re going to meet her in a minute- lives in the high-end suburbs on the far southeast side of town. Walking, it would take at least two hours to get there from where we were, going through downtown and the main shopping district along the way.

The thing is, even without my...

Jean Goodwin sat on the park bench and watched the sun lowering towards the treeline.

Peter was late, but she didn’t mind. She had all night, and the night hadn’t even quite arrived yet. And besides (she smirked to herself), women always appreciate a man who comes late.

She idly contemplated the possibility of giving Peter another chance to come very late indeed, later that night. The two of t...

The Artist Search Has Failed: The Peter is the Wolf Novel Project Begins

Well, off and on I've spent years trying to find an artist who fits the following criteria:

(1) Can produce at least one comic page per week;

(2) Draws in a manga-inspired art style

(3) Reaches a certain minimum level of art quality

(4) Works reasonably well with my scripting style

(5) Fits within a certain per-page budget that matches past Patreon support

And after having several artists ghost on me after initial interest, other artists not really get what...

Book 2 is FINALLY Being Printed... and Why the Delay

It's taken seven years, but last night Peter is the Wolf 2: Life in the Doghouse FINALLY went to the printer. Tomorrow or Monday, the adults-only version of the book will follow, and after that a short-run reprint of the adult version of Book 1. One more week delay...

I've been busy on something of particular interest to all of you, so getting the last page of each of the omake stories posted hasn't happened. And I'll be in Houston all day tomorrow getting work done, so it's going to get postponed until next week.

But I hope to have a big announcement for you over the weekend. Stay tuned.

Not going graphic in this story, but you will definitely be able to fill in the gaps in your mind.

And, again, this is inspired by the Tuskegee Experiments, but also by a multitude of other official policies conducted by America throughout its history.

Not only can it happen here, it DID.

Yes, I'm very much going there.

Leaving aside the issues of Operation Paperclip, which demonstrated that a lot of high-ranking American officers had absolutely no problems with what the Nazi war criminals were doing...

... go google "Tuskegee Experiments" sometime, and remember that those began almost a decade before Josef Mengele got his hands on his first pair of twins.

And that didn't get exposed and ended until the 1970s.

Side-Story Script Suggestions Wanted

Well, we're more than halfway through the two side stories. And I need to write more before I find other artists to try out. I have an idea for an adult story, but I need a gen-aud story to go with it... and for that, I'm currently out of ideas.

So, readers: is there some point of history you'd like explored from the were view? Is there a legend you want addressed? Is there some part of the story so far you want a closer look at? Let me know!
