Not sure it even matters to correct, but belief in hell and what happens after you die as a bad person existed before Dante's Inferno even in a biblical context and in western society for a while. Dante's inferno is more amazing in the fact it influenced the way Italian was spoken making the tuscan dialect the default style of Italian. Its like how martin luther the shitter influenced how German was written after he popularized german bible text printing with his translations. Dante's inferno does influence how we understand what happens in hell today in popular culture but the church didn't add it into the bible, more like they let wealthy rich patrons pay starving artist to paint crazy frescoes influenced by their popular understanding of biblical themes in personal chapels in churches and palaces. But who cares fuck you if you read this.
