It would be about being a dick to someone and picking on a trait of theirs. The downside is that the wrong people may witness that behavior and misconstrue it as generalized transphobia, and plenty will argue that it is, regardless of the intent. I kinda think of it like this: if I have a friend or someone I agree with who has a big ass nose, like a SHNOZ, I just ignore that, no need to be mean or bully anyone. But if that person turns out to be a POS, it would be a very easy target. It’s just a matter of wanting to be a dick. Anyway, yeah, I agree.

I personally feel it's best not to engage with hateful speech or behavior, even if it's at the expense of a terrible person. The reason is simply because it causes unnecessary damage to groups that didn't deserve it. Like calling OJ the n-word just kinda normalizes using the term in a derogatory way. Same goes for misgendering; whether or not it's on the same level of disrespect as the n-word is irrelevant as misgendering just kinda promotes that overall behavior of being transphobic even if it's used for "a noble cause". Even though Ava deserves a lot of mocking and criticism, I think going after her gender isn't the best course of action. As it causes unnecessary splash damage. Also there's much funnier ways to dunk on her than misgendering. I personally find misgendering child's play when it comes to the art of disrespect.

It normalizes misgendering people you don’t like and it makes me think ally ship with trans people is conditional. If someone who isn’t trans changed their name wronged you would you start calling them by their birth name? No you probably wouldn’t even of thought to do that but because someone is trans and that kind of disrespect in normalized it’s one of the first things people think to do. Something to think about is if you see a lot of trans people upset about something and they say it’s transphobic it probably is. I get not everybody is going to understand but sometimes it just better to listen and try to respect it.

It’s like, is it possible to selectively disregard a specific trans person’s pronouns to show disrespect while not being transphobic overall? I think maybe you can, because it’s not that you are disrespecting the person because they are trans, but because they are a bad person and it’s an easy way to do so.
