Hello my Sweet Summer Children, bit of a late & long write-in here but one I am truly compelled to ask. Have you ever experienced something that was so truly unexpected an out of the blue that you were totally and utterly frozen as your brain struggled to process what you were witnessing from the hilarity of the moment? And I'm not referring to something appalling or horrific per-say (as I imagine witnessing 9/11 fits the bill), but rather something more mundane or purely unexpected? The reason I ask is that I've been replaying such a moment in my mind that fits this description. Several months back I stumbled out of a club in San Francisco in a drunken stupor with my roommates and friends. After getting a nice 2am hotdog from the sweet Hispanic woman on the side of the road, we ordered our Ubers home. With few wits among us, we realized we did so separately, and suddenly had 4 cars coming for 6 people. Naturally, all 4 filled up with a mix of friends, acquaintances, and the errant person who nobody knew. After some time of hosting Afters at our place, the crowd started to thin, and one of our close friends had the idea to order Postmates; and this is were things take a turn. This individual is rather large, as some folks tend to be. Now me & my friends take no umbrage with being on the heavier side (as with many folks in their 20's, quite a few of us are, ourselves), but the real problem comes when you indulge in what we have deemed "fat behaviors, activities, and decisions." This is relevant. The delivery order was placed by one of our friends, but using my roommates phone, as my roommate already had our address. Crucially, he was not informed that the ordered was for a whopping $120 worth of pizza, breadsticks, soda, etc. The girl who placed said order also had the cojones to tip an additional $25, and only compensated my friend $80. The look on his face was well and truly as plain as can be, as he starred daggers at our oblivious friend who explained that she "wanted leftovers." The kicker came an hour later when we gathered in the kitchen to delete the Dominos. As we ate, this same individual loaded her plate with 4 slices of pizza, and, without any level of doubt, opened her pristine Kate Spade purse, and retrieved a fucking SALT SHAKER AND BUTTER KNIFE. She carefully applied the salt to the slices, and spread it around with the knife, totally oblivious that the entire room was watching in silence & awe. Nobody was able to utter a word at this tremendous display of gluttony, and we never grilled the poor bastard for it as she was so cheerful and undeterred, but the egregious display of aforementioned "fat behavior" has yet to leave my mind. There's a second part to the story I'll share at a later time if this one catches your eye, but it's already quite longwinded, so I thank anyone for reading. Much Love.

How we doing my workplace coping mechanisms. Back in the job I had before my current one I was working as a Team Leader in a call centre. Around September they were doing the shift pattern for the Christmas and I was advised I would have to work one day out of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing Day. As I was travelling home (Around a 4 hour drive) to see my family for Christmas I opted for a late shift on the Boxing Day evening. About a month later they advised me that my Team Leader role was no longer required and that I was demoted to my previous role. Despite this I was still expected to come in to work the Boxing Day shift, despite not having a team to lead and no longer having access to any of the systems to even do anything. Worst thing is I did it, I left my Family at 11am on the Boxing Day, drove for 4 hours and then went to work. I handed in my notice around 3 weeks later. Sorry for the long pre-amble, but my question is this? What absolute bullshit has a company made you do that made you look for another job or quit on the spot. Stay classy guys, love your work.
