I don’t agree, and I’m part of the group of people that physically can’t play Fromsoft games, I have hand problems, and playing games like them is just too painful. That’s is 100% my problem, it’s not up to the developers of the game to make a product that they don’t want to make, just to cater to me, you, or anybody else. You don’t want to sink time into a hard game? That’s completely fair enough, don’t do it then. If a game comes with a difficulty slider, that’s not a problem, but it’s also not a problem if it doesn’t, and complaining about it is entitled as fuck.

Accessibility is allowing everyone to play the game (color blind options, support for controllers that disabled people need to play) not easy modes and settings that hand you the victory. Speaking from experience here if you are put on an easy mode it genuinely takes away from the experience, happened with me trying to play elden ring and my friends forcing me to play seamless co-op with them and they're great at the game. Ran through the first 5 bosses in one try and it was so boring, it kind of ruined them for me.

No one expects directors to make multiple versions of a movie so more people can enjoy it. The experience you get is the same as everyone, and if it touches a topic that makes you uncomfortable then maybe it isnt for you. No shame in it.

Someone playing on easy mode or with offline trainers does not affect someone else's experience playing on harder difficulties and if it really bothers you that much then you need reevaluate your own ego and mentality. Average consumers like me have jobs and personal lives outside of gaming and we can't sink dozens of hours at a time in a single sitting and we don't want to spend weeks or months on a single game. Easier options ensure that I can have a more relaxed experience with more of a guarantee that I'll see it to the end. If Elden Ring got an easy mode I probably wouldn't play it but it being there won't affect my experience playing normally. Seeing how many people gatekeep pieces of entertainment is sad honestly but it's also hilarious how miserable your life must be that people enjoying a game differently bothers you that much.

Developer's intended way to play is fine, but if that intended way to play is prohibitively difficult, that is, regardless of the developer's intentions, gatekeeping. That's exactly why most games have a strongly recommend difficulty, and a story difficulty.

They basically turn difficult sentences into the most basic form of their meaning. If you read the simplified version of war and peace, did you really read it? If you’re really struggling with a book, use a guide, ask for help, take your time. Don’t force the art to fundamentally change for you.
