Friday Rambles 2026-01-02

Happy New Year, Fridaynauts!! It's a fresh start. Everything is A-OK now. And I'm on time, too! So far so good.

2025 Year-End Stuff

In between the last Ramble and this one, a lot of game websites and individual people published their GOTY lists online, and I was delighted to see that Endless Monday: Dreams and Deadlines was featured in several of them. Never mind that Mikhail was responsible for most of that coverage. What a dude.

But still, a bunch of other people seemed to like the game too, so I drew (well, more like finished) a drawing as a thank you to everyone who made 2025 a GOTY-award winning year. Thank you!

Not Game Dev Stuff

The best thing about the new year is updating the ol Hobonichi Techo. I've stamped the 12/31 page of my 2025 Techo with a "You did good~" bunny stamp. 2025 is YEAR DONE.

For 2026, I've opted for a half-year Avec + blank notebook setup. I use the notebook for notes and scratch paper, and the daily pages in the Avec for planning and tracking things.

I drew a picture on the first dated page of my new Avec. 1/1 2026 is in the books. The ever faithful Tiger-chan, assuring me that I'm good at my job.

Otherwise it's mostly just the same as last year. I'm not posting full page spreads of my beautifully decorated and aesthetic bullet journal because it's actually just an incredibly boring but personal list of todos and things done. Function over form, as they say.

In the spirit of the new year, here's my plan for 2026. It's kinda the same as 2 weeks ago.

Well, I've also got one more thing to look forward to which is a merch drop with a cool partner that I don't know when it's going to happen, but it's probably going to happen early 2026. Other than that, it'll all really depend on Game 2 development progress, so I'm just gonna keep my main focus on that, and deal with new opportunities as they come.

In the shorter term, here's what I gotta finish in January.

January 2026

• Launch Steam store page for Game 2 with title and trailer and screenshots

• Reopen sticker shop

• Finish drawing 100 oc portraits for bluesky (regrets abound)

Game Dev Stuff

I got some trailer work done. Basically reintegrating the Air Fryer minigame back in. I won't say more than that.

No-context trailer material in progress. But the gameplay actually works and seamlessly transitions between VN mode to Air Fryer mode.

Before we move on to the rest of 2026: I know times are tough for a lot of people, taxes are due, everything costs more, and so on, so I totally understand if you need to cancel or pause your Patreon membership. It's not like the weekly Ramble is a tremendous value or anything, and I'll still be here. Feel free to do it without guilt, just promise to buy the next game when it's out. Wait, where's everyone going??
