ALSO OKAYYY what are the chances that Shisui is alive????? looking back and watching some reviews on this episode there's some things that I overlooked in the end due to the feels I was having BUTTT we can't forget about the hairpin....that may become an important part to all of this. Also another great parallel is the playing the role as Loulan, and in this episode she's last seen as Loulan, but what about Shisui? it's very likely all of this was planned so she can resume her life as a different person - the avalanche built up a bunch of snow and that man at the end walking near the back of the stronghold? and what was it that he noticed???? what was all that about??... THERE'S SO MANY SUBTLE HINTS IN THIS ANIME THAT IT'S SO HARD TO NOTICE THEM ALL IN THE MOMENT.. This anime is brilliant that way and I love how they get you thinking after the fact.

Loulan is freaking brilliant! She tells her father that there is one more trick to pull off. Trick? Taking responsibility and dying is not a trick. Making it seem that all the Shi clan were killed and surviving is an amazing trick! Insects not surviving the winter but leaving behind their children has always been on her mind. This was all made possible when the Crown Prince allowed her to say what was on her mind, and then accepting her "parting" wish of granting forgiveness to the family members who have already "died" once. [Suirei, the children, and Shisui too?] Before her dance, Loulan wondered if she could give a better acting performance than her father. Could a better act be to appear as the evil mastermind and look like she died, but still survive? The fatal shot to her chest looked to be in the exact same location as the hairpin Maomao gave her. Could that final smile be because she was happy that Maomao's final wish is what saved her? Finally, the guard that returned to the castle after escaping earlier was seen at the base of the castle wall. He noticed something shining in a bush. Go back to episode 22 and watch the scene where Maomao gives the hairpin to Loulan. There is a very interesting appearance to that hairpin that I never saw before.

2025-06-30 04:32:53 +0000 UTCIn the first season Loulan was the "ugh, not her again" type. This season I felt she was my MVP. She was so fun as Shisui and the whole XiaoShiMao trio. And her plan revealed in this episode showed how smart and cunning she could be. That dance at the end started out so beautifully (that song!) but ended in horror. I felt so bad for Suirei as she had to witness everything happening to the only person who showed an ounce of kindness to her. I do hope Jinshi's Loulan comment is a hint that Shisui survived. We'll see.
