SPACE ODDITY IS OUT!
Added 2024-09-25 15:45:43 +0000 UTC
Well, obviously it came out yesterday, but YESTERDAY, Bastian was creating and distributing a wide variety of colorful fluids every ten minutes all over everything, and thus...well, as launch days go, it was a struggle. TODAY IS THEIR 6TH BIRTHDAY (WHAT) and they're back in school...but it's their birthday and early release day, so my week is essentially that gif of Elmo being engulfed in flames.
Life is beautiful and life is stupid, as the wise and august xenoliger Goguenar Gorecannon says.
BUT I HAVE A MOMENT TO BREATHE AND TELL YOU MY BOOK BABY IS OUT.
Pop music! Puns! Politics! Protagonists in Peril! Other Things What Start With P!
Followers of this Patreon (P!) have been treated to several previews, but for those who missed them: Space Oddity follows Decibel Jones and his semi-alive drummer Mira Wonderful Star as they accidentally trip over the newest potentially-sentient species in the galaxy whilst on their Mandatory Publicity and Interstellar Diplomacy Tour. Hijinks definitely ensue.
Please go get a copy! We all enjoy eating and being dry over here! Tell people about it! IF you are a person with any online reach at all, give it a wee boost. These are ALWAYS the best things you can do for an author you want to succeed.
Thank you all for your support over the last few years of writing this book. You guys truly are my RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Artists. You'll find out ;)) and I could not have done any of this without you.
Now, without further ado...
SPACE PARTY!!!
If you missed the live reading and Q&A on Instagram last night, you can watch it here anytime.
Here's where to get the book:
Print (if you request a signed copy, it's no extra charge. This is my local store and we have a fancy arrangement)
Bookshop (supports indie booksellers)
If you want to help - again, buy it, ask your library or bookstore to buy it, review it, and talk about it online

As a reward for reading, or at least skimming past, all that boring stuff, I give you the First Addendum to the First General Unkillable Fact (and a bit of context as to wtf that is in case you haven't read Space Opera...)
Thank you all.
***
Goguenar Gorecannon’s Unkillable Facts contains undiluted, uncensored (but not for the Pisces Epsilon Publishing Hiveknot’s lack of trying), and unedited (again, they did try) 90-proof reliable and comprehensive laws of the universe as observed by a socially anxious Yurtmak deathrhino who was far too shy to do enough ritualistic murders to please her parents. In the opinion of trillions of parents representing hundreds of species, if you’re not going to read your offspring an Unkillable Fact before bed every night, you might as well punt the little larva into the nearest municipal bin and let an old rind of gouda and a crumpled up reactionary newspaper with powdered custard congealed on it raise them as their own.
The second installment in the Gorecannon Pedagogical Universe came out, with great reluctance, some twenty cycles later, entitled: Listen Up, You Big Dumb Puddings: Some Unkillable Addendums for Adults Who Didn’t Listen to Me the First Time.
If you’ve got this far, you will be familiar with the First General Unkillable Fact: Life is beautiful and life is stupid. Never give more weight to one than the other and you might end up all right. Whenever one seems about ready to wrap it all up for the other and rule the galaxy with some sort of fist, the only thing you can really be sure of is that its old friend is standing right behind, fixing to make a very loud and unignorable comeback. Which is why it stays the way it is, even though the suggestion box is gonna lose atomic cohesion why minute now. You can only ever fix one of them at a time, and wouldn’t it be nice if anyone could agree on which one is the bigger problem?
The Addendum to the First General Unkillable Fact read as follows: Life is beautiful and life is stupid. No, I’m not taking it back, you great lot of fucking hat-racks. I don’t know what you thought unkillable meant.
However, my archeditors, sub-editors, structural copyengineers, and assorted marketing inquisitors have informed me, while rattling a stick against the bars of my cage, that I have more to say on the subject.
Well, hat-racks, the galaxy is the way it insists on being because the stupid is just so much more accessible than the beautiful. So much more present. So much more interested in little old us. The beautiful is a fun weekend dad, forever busy with other people, other places, with its real family. It’s the stupid that puts in the hours and does the real day-to-day work.
Beauty is stuck behind a paywall. Stupid is always free.
And it sure does like the look of everything you hold dear.

2024-09-26 21:10:17 +0000 UTCI was thrilled to see my pre-order appear on my iPad! Now, if only the house elves would get off their collective asses and clean the garage so I can absorb this book.
