2024-10-06 02:26:56 +0000 UTCYeah I couldn’t tell if they wanted him to be smart or dumb in the beginning, but I thought more about his mastery over the word “anarchy” the self reflection he had to know he wasn’t being properly interpreted, and then his ability to copy the correct vowel. It just shows he is aware and able to connect with others on a deeper level

2024-10-03 23:55:12 +0000 UTCSort of surprised you stopped it where you did since this one and the next one are pretty connected, but that's ok. I love how Lin uses phrases that can have different meanings so that he can bring them back again and again in different ways. Probably my favorite example of this is "look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now." The first time in Schuyler sisters it's upbeat and "how lucky we are to be alive RIGHT NOW" (at this exciting time in history). Now, in "That Would Be Enough" it's "how lucky you are to be ALIVE (as opposed to dead) right now." It's just such good writing! The versatility of words like "shot" and "helpless", etc. really help to tie everything together. Can't wait for the next installment!

2024-10-03 23:41:09 +0000 UTCOne thing I think is really cool is Lafayette's progression. In his first rap, it's simple rhymes with him having trouble with some english words, plus slower tempo. And then in Guns and ships, it's very fast with complex English lexicon. It's a genius way that Lin showed Lafayette's intelligence and mastery of the English language.
