Want to hear something weird? I had no idea what the South Downs looked like or honestly where it was. I knew it was by the sea. When I sketched this, I was thinking of Diamond Head on Oahu, which has a very distinct silhouette, looking at it from the right side shore. When I looked up photos of the South Downs, I was shocked to see that I didn't need to change the silhouette of the cliffs and bay at all. Kind of wild!
This feels Very Married to me. I can see them standing face to face, opening their coats and sharing a little pocket of warmth between them, not a word said or even glances shared. Just being together out at the end of all things, in a happy place.
