(WIP) Flower thoughts
Added 2022-05-27 16:01:04 +0000 UTCThis will be this month's painting! I've been hanging onto this WIP for a little while and it feels like the right time. I frankly never get tired of long-haired Crowley + flora.
My Aunt Ingrid lives in an incredibly magical place in southern Maryland, on a kind of isolated farm and an old restored mansion. I grew up visiting every summer, getting lost in the fairy land of blackberry bushes, cow pastures, mossy ponds, rose gardens, towering magnolia trees with blossoms the size of basketballs. The nights were loud with crickets, bullfrogs, the electric buzz of insects, fireflies absolutely everywhere. Bees in the daytime, and the sweetness of chickweed, clover, honeysuckle, ivy, magnolia, and most of all: boxwood. Shaggy boxwood hedges line overgrown brick paths, so thick only children could run through and come out the other side glittering with spiderwebs. Little waxy oval leaves, sweet and wild, the perfume of magic.
