Jill Post Release Update
Added 2025-10-20 20:29:36 +0000 UTCIt's been a week since The Ultimate Lifeform launched! I've often done some launch reviews for big projects like this, so I might as well do that and outline some upcoming plans.
The initial promotion did the heaviest lifting with over 35+ supporters gained in two weeks. Production gained far less at about 10+ in over a month but was importantly fairly stable. Launch has seen an increase of about 15+ in week. All in all, 60+ supporters gained in two months has made this a pretty clear success.
I could be a little more specific about launch numbers. I've actually gained 40+ supporters since launch, but cancellations and such clearing out has dropped that down to less than 20 net gain after a week. Cancellation rate was at a record low during production, so it is not unexpected for it to jump after project completion. My last big project, Subject 2, actually went from (previous) record low to (still current) record high cancellation rate. For this project, cancellation rate has only just risen back up to average. The Ultimate Lifeform has actually pulled better numbers in a week than Subject 2 did in a month. I just have to point out cancellation rates because how many people stick around to support me next month is still very much important to following up with more.
We're also not quite done. I've still got the alternate versions on the way. I have decided on three versions. One nude version with the Tyrant, and two human white/black versions with the default RE3 Remake outfit. This is the longest fully animated movie project I've ever done and it's in Cycles, so it is taking quite a while even rendering away on both of my pcs (4070 old pc, 5080 new pc). They should be done before the end of the month though.
I really want to put a focus on how much your support has helped here, and what that means in terms of content. The core movie was the intro + two scenes for about two minutes. Because of all the supporter goals, three extra scenes were added and the movie doubled to about four minutes in length. Moreso, the two pc setup is something I've only been able to afford with your support. A single five minute movie in Cycles would've been unthinkable, but now I'm able to put out four total versions in just a few weeks. The extra movie length, the extra versions are only out there because of everyone who has supported the project.
One last thing I want to talk about is how the movie production itself went. Honestly, it went really well. Within the first week of full animation, I started to project October 2nd more or less as the release date. I also expected it to take an extra week with the third bonus scene unlocked, which would push it to October 9th. The final release date being October 13th turned out to be surprisingly close. I was very efficient putting everything together.
What's next? I've already decided on my next movie. I think a teaser will be posted soon, and an official announcement early next month. I've already written the script intro, and I've already started preparing model assets while I finish rendering the Jill alternates. In addition to that, I have some ideas for 30-45 second animations between movies.
