December Update

Hey guys, I want to give you an update about the stuff I've been working on plus some things I'm thinking about. The Morrigan model release really messed with my content schedule. I've been set back months on my commissions in additional to content slowing down in general. I must stress that this isn't usual for me to work on models like that, and as good as the model is, I don't think I'm going to do more of that any time soon. I feel like I had a really good rhythm of content releases going this year until I tried to finish out that model. I'm pretty frustrated by how posters/animations have slowed down as a result.

The good news is that means there's no shortage of stuff coming.

As it is, I have a large set (16x) of Dragon Age posters with Cassandra, the male Inquisitor, and Iron Bull. I've continued using Cycles for this set. Blender 3.0 has seen official release, and the performance gains are so impressive. I mainly used it for render times on the Morrigan posters, but actually using it for a project is something else. Viewport rendering is so much faster now I have no trouble lighting scenes. Low sample count preview renders are so quick as well.

For animation, I have a POV with Claire Redfield. This is a trial run for animation commissions. I've shied away from them for a long time, but I figured I'd give it a try this year since I've been doing more commissions lately. The animation itself is a good opportunity to craft more butt jiggles. It is good so far. I've done a few drafts, and the animation is coming together nicely.

Ideally, I'd like to have these projects done before the end of the month, and that should be a fairly good amount of content.

After that, there's still more commissions from Dragon Age, Resident Evil, and Mass Effect to go. I told you the Morrigan model really set me back?

Lastly, this is just an idea. I thought about focusing one month on an animation speed run of sorts. Once I clear my commission backlog, I'd like to stick with animation loops and see how many I can do. The main idea is to setup some animations and try to do one a week or something like that. Basically, I want to see if I can quickly and consistently get some animations done.

Since I learned the NLA editor, it feels like every time I start an animation I could get them done quickly, but each time I get distracted with other projects. One goal I had for this year was to do more animations, but I'm pretty sure my pace only slowed down. I think if I plan this out in advance and work my schedule around it, this could work. That said, I still have a pretty large commission backlog, so it would probably end up being February the earliest.
