Vilous | Jakk’s Biography Update [+Creator Insight, Pre-reading of Jakk's Origin!]

For today’s update, we would like to feature an artwork piece snippet from Mick’s Patreon alongside a very healthy and fresh chunk of lore, a greatly updated biography on one of the Vilous Official Characters, Jakk the Sergal, with a better perspective and insight!

 Jakk is a young Sergal male. During the war, it is said that General Rain Silves fell in love with the sight of him and had forcibly taken him as one of her own, in order to become her adopted child.

He displays a slender body and physique, adorned with lush green fur and two spot patterns, similar to eyebrows, nestled above his eyes.

Due to his overall appearance, features and linguistic grasp, he is considered to be of a Western lineage. But this is not strictly identified or revealed, as he does not go into details about himself.

He has a strong intellectual curiosity with regards to Eltus plants which are a very precious and rare existence on this planet. Throughout his life, he had focused and worked on the study of Eltus plants, thus gaining popularity among a small group of young, studious people.

His personality is very serious and polite, however, due to the fact that he prefers to state his opinions and thoughts clearly, without hesitation, it may make him seem to have a tad of a sharp tongue as well. He has a good glib-tongued demeanour in comparison to that of the common Sergals, and he can make use of complex language and pronunciations smoothly.

His appearance and behavior give mysterious vibes, due to this, people often refer to him as “The boy from another planet”. However, he seems to pay no heed or care about these rumors.

Around RC 40, when the war had ended and Rain had been arrested, he had also been taken and sent into Gold Ring alongside Rain. Although Rain was taken as a war criminal, Jakk was treated like a hostage towards the Shigu Kingdom. Within Gold Ring, he had spent the rest of his life under house arrest. Even in this situation, however, he was still deeply working in studies covering various fields, natural science, government and economy. His research results from these studies eventually led to contribute greatly to the independence of Shigu.

In his lifetime in Gold Ring, he developed a friendship with Quu, a Judda Nevrean boy, as they were experiencing a similar situation with regards to their own life. The lack of a “Perfect Freedom”. He had often visited Quu’s room in the high rise tower in Gold Ring central city, and enjoyed various, interesting conversations.

He was a lost child within the Vetla forest, a quiet sergal who was raised up by a group of native nevrean people living in Vetla. 

He does not make ‘sergal sounds’ such as Yigh, Yip, Yap or Meww. He probably made such sounds only when he was a child, but nowadays he can’t remember that at all or anything regarding his biological parents as well. 

He is very fluent in the Nevrea language and can communicate fluently. (Due to his ability, Jakk’s clan grew into a large-scale mixed clan in which sergals and nevreans live together.)  Perhaps it is due to the influence of nevreans upbringing as to why he does not express his true emotions via voice or facial expressions which other sergals normally show and exhibit. 

This behavior tends to look somewhat awkward to onlookers, describing him as a “living doll”. He also thinks that the true form of himself reveals itself whenever he communicates in the Nevrea language.

Most likely, his origins stem from the Sieg clan of sergals in the northwest and he has dropped out from his original group. At the time when he was discovered, he was less than a year old, and had already been attacked by Talyxian biomes, and, as a result, ended up with a frail constitution that barred him from going out.

 Due to this, he was living a quiet life, all the while enjoying the sound and dance of native nevreans. There were also adults around, and his adopted (Having no biological relation) elder sister whom had always guarded him against the threats that would befall him, and would keep them away from him.

One day, the quiet Vetla forest and it’s biomes suddenly turned and took up a more bloodthirsty and murderous demeanour. Thus, the clan which Jakk belong to was exposed to the threats of the ferocious Talyxian biome. Female nevreans and sergals faced the threat of the Talyxian biomes, but they were overthrown easily by their might, one after the other… Then, the great army of Shigu, taking full advantage of the momentum provided by the force of the forest, massacred all the sergals and seized many male nevreans to bring back with them to the Kingdom. Female nevreans quickly grasped this deadly situation and as a reactionary measure, they carried their eggs forth with them during their escape, fleeing as far away as possible.

Almost all the young sergal boys were either violated and or killed by Rain personally. However, only Jakk was spared and made to live alongside Rain for some unbeknownst reason. Researchers in later ages speculate that perhaps Jakk was treated the same as nevreans, because he had forgotten the shrieks and cries of sergals and their general sounds and never emitted them himself.

Jakk’s adoptive elder sister went missing at this point. There have been several rumors about her; 

“She journeyed to Shigu alone in order to assassinate Rain and retrieve Jakk.” or “She travelled to Gold Ring when the Shigu lost the war.” 

Either of these rumors and details are still in a gray area and largely debated.

ジャクの生い立ち

ベトラの森の迷い子で、ベトラに住むネヴリャン達のグループに育てられた、ヒャーと鳴かないサーガルの子ども。小さい時はその声を出していたのだろうが、今ではそのことも本当の親の事も全く思い出せない。ネヴリャン語にとても堪能で、流暢にコミュニケーションをとる事が出来る。（このおかげでジャクのクランは後々サーガルとネヴリャンがともに暮らす大きな混合クランに成長した）ネヴリャンに育てられた影響か、サーガルにとっては本当の感情を声や表情に出さない、立ち振る舞いもどこかよそよそしいものに感じられる。本人も、ネヴリャン語で意思疎通しているときこそ本当の自分でいられると感じるようだ。

おそらく北西部のシグクランからあぶれた子ども。1歳にも満たない発見当時にすでにタリクシアン植物に侵されており、外に出ることもままならない虚弱体質を抱えながら、ネヴリャンの歌や踊りを楽しみに生きていた。また、他の大人たちや、血のつながりのない姉が彼に近づく脅威を常に遠ざけ、守っていた。

ある時、おとなしかったベトラの森が突然殺気立ち、ジャクの所属するクランが植生の脅威にさらされる。女たちとサーガルがタリクシアンの脅威に立ち向かうが、狂暴化した森に次々と倒されていく。そこへ森の勢いと共に乗り込んできたシーグという大軍勢が、全てのサーガル達を殺し、ネヴリャンの男たちを捕らえてシーグに連れ帰った。ネヴリャンの女たちはすぐに状況を察し、卵を抱え、逃げられるものは遠くへ逃走した。

ほとんどのサーガルの少年はレインによって犯され、殺された。しかし、ジャクだけはレインによって生かされた。ジャクがサーガルの悲鳴を忘れていたためにネヴリャンと同じ扱いを受けたのではないか、と後世の研究者によって推測されている。

ジャクの姉はこの時点で行方不明になっている。レインを暗殺し、ジャクを取り返す為に単身シーグを訪れたとも、後にシーグが敗北した際にGRを訪れているなどいくつかの発見報告がされているが、詳細は不明。
