the huxley book rips. my one gripe is that he never threads the needle at the end to conclude that ALL authority and hierarchy are evil. he waffles in this proto-boomer way that left politics are as capable of this as rightwing politics. maybe that’s true but the moral of this story couldn’t be clearer. this is a horror story about what happens when the church and state take an interest in you. this is an anarchist story but the author never acknowledges it.
