The concept of a generation ship where the people on board have forgotten that they're on a ship is a sci-fi trope. But the Orville's take on it was well done.

Quite a few reptilian species are capable of this. The problem with this from an evolutionary point of view is instead of a genetic reshuffling of the deck as happens in sexual reproduction, you'd just be giving birth to your genetically identical clone. Effectively your daughter would also be your twin sister.

2025-04-18 01:39:43 +0000 UTCHey I'm glad you're liking this show. I too was frustrated (gets me mad). I was hoping they'd smack around that leader guy... but it's not their way. They did stun him. They ought to stun him and his goons from space though... just to make sure they don't hurt other people. Who knows how nuts they could get before help arrives. But I guess that's how it works. If their society wants to destroy themselves just at the brink of being saved... ah well, what can you do...
