For some behind the scenes information, that’s kind of important for the show, Alex was killed off due to the actor’s behavior outside of the show. The character wasn’t killed off here in the books. Unfortunately, Cas Anvar was accused of sexual misconduct with fans. They investigated the allegations and then let him go. This happened before season 5 started airing, so fans of the show were already aware he would not be returning for season 6. The only thing we didn’t know, was how the writers would handle his exit (if he would be killed or recast.) In the books, Fred Johnson actually dies of a stroke from the high G’s, so his death on the show was a little shocking because it was way different. Then they used his book death for Alex’s show death. I think they did well with what they could. They used the footage he shot and reshot scenes without him for the later scenes. As far as the what’s going on with the Martian ship, I’m not sure if you figured it out. But, it’s the entities that Holden and Okoye saw and were worried about waking up, they’re the ones that killed the builders. Think of it like a black hole inside the ring, best way I could describe it lol, they’re gone gone.
