There are rumors of an alternate ending. Remember the "plastic educator". the Krell machine that Morbius used to create an image of his daughter? In the alternate ending when the planet Altair-4 was destroyed, Morbius' daughter Altaira faded away and ceased to exist. She was never real. She was a creation of the Krell machines from the beginning.
