if you're running Curse of Strahd and not using his CoS: Reloaded rewrite, you're really doing yourself a disservice. It makes the whole adventure so much cleaner and more resonant; I used it for my own game and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Small parties are significantly less powerful than larger ones (moreso than you'd expect), so it really depends on how much weight those sidekicks are pulling. Without accounting for the sidekicks, I'd expect this Strahd to wipe the floor with them, and would probably cut his hit points in half, so you could probably do that, then add back in a number of hit points equal to 2 rounds of what the sidekicks are likely to put out.

2025-07-30 17:35:23 +0000 UTCI'm getting very close to my final encounter in CoS. This comes at a very opportune time. Question: I am running this for 2 players at Level 13, with each running a Sidekick. They'll have Van Richten with them as an ally, as well as any other help they can get from those attending the wedding. Where do you see this version landing with 2 players? One is a Bard, with double digit HP and the Sunsword, the other is a very powerful fighter with a ranged (non magical) build and a magic great sword. Any insight would be appreciated!!
