Patreon Tier structure updates!

Fun title, right?? That's what you're all here for! 😋

This is gonna be a long post with all the details, so as usual I'm gonna have a condensed "TL;DR" at the bottom if you just want the simple bite-size info 💜

Hey all!

So I've spent the last six months or so (since I released the website) trying my HARDEST to find a payment processor to allow me to provide memberships to my content through the site rather than through Patreon with the connection that I currently have... all ending in failure so far.

The main issues I keep running into are:
-I'm considered a 'high risk' client cos I make NSFW content
-I'm not an Incorporated Company
-I make very little money compared to companies that usually run websites
-I live in Australia

Pretty much EVERY lead I've chased down or business bank account I've spent weeks opening ends in the provider or bank giving me the FIRM middle finger because of one of the above reasons... I'm just exhausted and defeated.

I had all these great plans on how I can open new channels and new ways for you guys to access content and makes things infinitely easier for BOTH of us, but without my own site to be able to OFFER these customised options, I'm restricted HEAVILY by Patreon's way of functioning and their tier structure.

And because of Patreon's Tier structure, I'm going to have to de-list the two $7.50 tiers.
The simple explanation is Patreon is designed to have 'cascading' tiers where offerings only grow bigger in a line upwards (hence calling them 'tiers'), and NOT having different offerings for the same price, so it breaks the whole system and I've lost a LOT of money in the interim while I've bene trying to find a solution.

The reason I MADE the two $7.50 tiers offering shifting and hopping separately is because I THOUGHT I was going to be able to move to my WEBSITE where I could DO that!... but that doesn't look like it's going to happen.

However I'm not giving up! I'm just going to take a breather from the fight, recoup for a while from banging my head against the wall, stabilise myself so that I can stop having panic attacks about this stupid issue and then go in for the next round once I've shaken it off.
If I DO find a payment system that will accept me, then I'll be able to bring the two tiers back again 😊

So for now, until I can find a payment provider for my website I'm only going to have one tier on my Patreon which is the $10 tier that simply has ALL my comics on it.

For the VAST majority of you who are already subbed to the $10 tier, none of this effects you at all! Carry on as normal, everything is good!

If you are currently subscribed to either $7.50 tier, you can still keep it!
I am going to honour that price point if you want to keep supporting me on that tier, the only thing I've removed is the ability for NEW people to sub to the tier.
You'll still keep getting the usual posts, the usual content and the usual access 🙂

The only thing is that if you decide to unsub from the $7.50 tier, you won't be able to REsub to it at a later date as Patreon counts that as a 'new sub'. So you can keep on that tier as long as you stay subbed!

lastly, downloadable PDFs will be staying as a feature of the site.
A small point here, but I was still trying to figure out the best way to provide you guys with the easiest way to access my content and read it how you want, while also trying to fight the rampant piracy.
I was still tossing up what to do about downloadable PDFs, and you guys made it clear that that's a feature you love!
So even though it is a major vulnerability for piracy and re-uploads, I think it's worth it based on the feedback you guys have provided, so thank you 💜
I've seen some OTHER creators do some pretty insane things to try and safeguard their content with passwords and QR codes and links to all sorts of roadblocks... I just find that endlessly infuriating as a customer and never want to go anywhere near THAT level and rather keep it simple with this Patreon link thing 😅

LASTLY lastly... now that I'm not putting my energy into wrestling with banks for months on end...
I might have some new type of content for all you lovely people to tease in the coming weeks... something I've never done before but I think you'll all like!
I was waiting for the payment systems to be solved first before I dove in because of how I'd have to distribute it, but I'll just have to make do with Patreon's stupid tier thing until I find something in future.

TL;DR (TOO LONG; DIDN'T READ)

-I can't find a payment system for my website, this means the 'Patreon link' system that we've currently been using is staying for now.

-Both $7.50 tiers have been unlisted because Patreon's stoopid tier system kept breaking. This means no new supporters can select those tiers, there is currently only the $10 tier for ALL my comics

-Current $7.50 members can stay on the tier like usual, but if you unsub you are no longer able to re-sub to that tier. But you can stay at the current tier for as long as you want and still get all the same benefits!

-If I'm able to find a payment system in future for my site, then I'll be able to bring back the split tiers!

-Downloadable PDFs are staying forever!

-I should have a new announcement soon of a new type of content for you all to enjoy... stay tuned!

This wasn't an easy decision for me to do, I don't take changing how tiers work lightly... bit of a 'rock and a hard place' situation for me right now.
