The Drydock - Episode 332

00:00:00 - Intro

00:00:34 - What happened to any Kriegsmarine surface ships that survived WW2?

00:05:43 - Other than Holland's Hollands, and Armstrong's Elswick cruisers, are there any other cases of a particular type of warship becoming almost synonomous with a single manufacturer?

00:07:50 - Had war in europe broken out earlier, how effective do you think the gas/petro-electric submarines would have been in comparison to their Diesel Electric successors? Did they have any chance of matching U-boat tonnage?

00:11:31 - What makes a sub chaser, a sub chaser?

00:16:52 - Potential underwater speeds of subs if they retained streamlined underwater-profiles?

00:22:34 - Which valuables that were lost with a warship are you most personally interested in?

00:27:17 - Jackie Fisher: What do you think was his best idea that he never managed to push through? And conversely, what do you think was his worst idea that was adopted/built?

00:35:19 - Assuming that the stray torpedo had missed or hit in a manner which didn't doom the Edinburgh, would there have been suitable facilities available in Murmansk to make enough repairs to allow her to return to the UK, or would the damage have been too severe?

00:37:35 - I read that a survey of Edinburgh showed she hadn't broke in two, or at least not fully broke in two. Is this the case?

00:41:25 - What happened to the French navy after the fall of Napoleon?

00:47:38 - What’s your advice for building an alternate history timeline?

00:54:03 - Effect of the Great Hurricane of 1780 on the American Revolution?

00:57:50 - What if HMS Tiger becomes the gunnery training ship instead of HMS Iron Duke?

01:04:14 - Glass cannon warships, what are the best examples of massively overly armed and under armoured warships that saw success in fighting other warships in the steam and steel era?

01:06:03 - If the two 15-inch guns mounted in front of the Imperial War Museum, London are raised to 45 degrees and fired, where would the shells land?

He was the leading Austrian ACE of the Ubootewaffe

I seem to recall that Trapp of "Sound of Music" fame was a commander of a petrol powered submarine in Austrian service during the Great War. I also thought the biggest problem they had with the petrol boats was the petrol fumes poisoning the crews.

Re sunken artefacts; some of the Elgan Marbles are on a sunken ship that was on its way to Britain from Greece.
