Yes! you have a great idea of what a majin is! Shizu and Ifrit merging is what made Shizu a majin. 'Majin' is sort of an umbrella term for intelligent and powerful monsters. There are many races and individuals who fit into this category. For example, Rimuru is considered a majin even though he is a slime because of his unusual power and intelligence. To be more specific about Shizu's race: she is a demonoid. (No relation to actual Demons) Which is another umbrella term for a human who has gone through the process of becoming a majin.
