I never get tired of the USS Alabama museum. It's amazing how much of the ship is accessible. Out of every ship museum I've been to it definitely shows the most.

Drach, great episode as always. While I agree with most of the sentiments on the Pearl Harbor movie, please remember that it would probably be more accurate to say that the East End represents stereotypical English values and mores than to say that Hollywood reflects American stereotypical values and mores. Moreover, while facile, it was good for War Bonds sales to encourage the belief among the civilian public that the Pacific War was a war for American survival. I remember trying to explain to my Grandmother--born 1908--that it was impossible for Japan to occupy Hawaii, let alone Illinois. The Japanese would have had an easier time occupying Pennsylvania than I had at trying to convince my Grandmother that the War was about controlling territorial ambitions in the Pacific rather than the survival of American democracy.

For logistical advice for a visitor to the US, I'd suggest talking to Bernhard MHV or Jingles. Maybe ping Nick "Chieftain" Moran for some more localised advice. Personally, I support the idea of giving yourself time out. Pace yourself, mate.

Your trip to America sounds like a wonderful time!! With your planned schedule, you certainly WILL get tired, but it should be worth it. If you need any assistance from a retired USN officer in either Wilmington or Charleston, I volunteer. Both are a reasonable drive from me, and I'd enjoy being an assistant in your efforts. Thanks for all of your efforts - you have a wonderful channel.

The USS Iowa is at the Port of Los Angeles which is under 20 miles south of the LA airport(LAX). The Midway is in San Diego 100+ miles south of the Iowa.
