Hey @Kvote, I'd like to give my 2 cents to that sentiment, if that's ok. "All of this patreon stuff is voluntarily and ThePit just started this thing. If something is not to your liking... just stop being a patreon." I could do that. Except I've already paid for 3 charged posts in April and if Pit doesn't catch up at the end of this month, I'll pay 2 for May as well... All of the Monster Madness stuff is published now, so that's no issue (except for the 4th piece Pit said he'd do, but that one was for free, so I have zero problem with that one never seeing the light of day). That's 25$ worth of content and if I quit the Patreon now, I'll never see those posts. While I'm 100% sure he's not doing it on purpose, Pit is sort of... eh... holding those posts hostage (for lack of a better phrasing) because by not catching up on the promised work and going into the next month, he is forcing the patrons who wish to get what they paid for, into next month, continuing a pay cycle that we can't get out of without losing money or published work. "Maybe come back in a year and see if things have changed or not." The way I understand it, if you join the patreon today, you don't get access to any of the previously published work. So that's not going to work either. "If you are unsatisfied with the results that turn up here, then leave, for crying out loud. Productive criticism is always welcome by anyone but simply bitching about stuff that cannot be changed anyways is a waste of anyones time." I will probably leave, but I'd like to get what I paid for before I do. Can you honestly tell me you think of that as unfair? You can call it bitching, but that fallacy is the same as the terms "fanboy" or "hater" they're very subjective. What you see as bitching, others see as valid complaints. We don't know shit about his situation, so all we can do is look at the facts. Fact: Pit has charged for work in April that he has yet to deliver. Pit has charged for work in May that he has yet to deliver (granted, the month isn't over just yet). We go, "Ok.", show up next month, and the man still doesn't give us the candy. Then we go, "uhm... are you ever going to give us the candy that we paid for?". Then you come in from the sideline and go "OMG, stop bitchin' about the candy!" Point: we haven't received the product we paid for, which gives us a right to complain. And the complaining has really only started now. Back in March and April, pretty much everybody was like "cool. take your time", "yeah, shit happens, it's ok", etc. " Because when I look at that picture up there I just feel like 'Wow! That looks awesome and it cost me as much as 1 pint of beer!' " Some of us pledge more than 1 buck per charged post. And before you go "well, change the pledge, then.." See my first paragraph. As for why I pledge that much: I did that from the get-go, because I'm a fan of the Pit... But whatever the state of my disposable income is, not getting what I've sunken hard-earned money into, is a kick to the nuts and not the way you should run a business. Sorry for the long response, but I felt like your post could do with some input from "one of those kids at the candy store who bitch about not getting the pornz"... :)

Look, people are mainly mad because promises keep being made and keep getting broken. It's not about losing 3 or 15 dollars a month. End of Story! Unless people are sending Pit hateful private messages,(which they very well could be) I haven't seen anything in the comments accusing him of being a thief or a scam. And even if he is getting hateful private messages or negative comments. Be a little tougher and just blow them off. What do you expect? This is the fucking internet! I'm actually surprised that there isn't worse stuff being said around here. Have you ever read the comments on youtube videos? People get upset, they voice their opinion because it makes them feel better, and that's it! In the end, Pit is still making a decent living off of drawing dirty pictures. What an awesome fucking Job! Be proud man! Yes, some things could probably be changed around here to make things better. So, take all this feedback your getting, both positive and negative, and make things better.

He's actually been producing a lot compared to the 2 years prior to him launching this Patreon. In previous years, getting more than 1 piece by Pit per month was very lucky, and sometimes more than a month would pass without anything. =( But with this Patreon there's been a substantial boost in both frequency and quality of updates. He's even been sharing free stuff! To date we've gotten at least 4 free pieces, not including sketches. As a fellow fan, and longtime supporter of Pit, I definitely do appreciate your concern though.

Since I'm just here for the art and to support The Pit, so I haven't been reading the comments and thus haven't seen any of these 'scam' & 'thief' accusations. I really hope there haven't been too many of them, because that kind of thing isn't going to help. Based on what I'm seeing from the Pit's (frequency of) output it looks like he's suffering from depression. If that's actually the case, no amount of money is going to fix it and his attempt to force his nose to the grindstone is just going to stress him out more, sending him even deeper into depression. I'm no where close to wanting to end my support, but I think it's time to have a talk about what's going on here.

My take is this: Would subscribers/patrons not agree that this Patreon is a much better value than the only way we could access his work before, via the JohnPersons site? JP's site cost 5 times as much, and usually we only got 1 Pit piece per month. In effect, if you're a $1/piece pledge here, we've gotten 10 times the value compared to JP.com If you're a $2 dollar pledge, you're getting 5 times the value you did at JP.com. If you're a $5 pledge, you're still getting about double the value because of more than double the monthly content. I want to say I understand the concerns, and I love seeing Pit being productive as well as happy, and those should go together. But my concern is more with Pit's productivity for the sake of being productive and motivated, not because of the value which it is a no-brainer the value of this Patreon is much better, as I explained above.

Who has been complaining about the actual cost? JP's site had other artists that you were also paying for so your point there doesn't make any sense. But beyond that, I haven't seen anybody complaining that things are too expensive or that they can't afford the cost. I also haven't seen anybody call this page a scam or Thepit a thief.(This could have been done in private messages, I just haven't seen this in the comments) People are upset because they were charged and promised specific work and it is now multiple months late. I don't think pits trying to scam anybody, but I do think that there needs to be a major overhaul in how he runs this thing. Most everyone here is here to support a truly awesome artist(evident by the work done above). But even the most supportive fans have a right to voice some concern when the work they have paid for and were promised to be done just keeps getting pushed back and back and back, to the point where it appears that pit will never catch up.

It's only $3 / month on average if you do the 1st tier pledge. $6 for the middle tier.

My advice for anyone very concerned about the cost: pick a pledge tier you're most comfortable with. I really cannot fathom $3 a month being robbery on Pit's part. Considering I used to pay over $17 bucks /mo to see his work on JP, and considering he's been substantially more productive for this Patreon, the first two tiers here are a steal for the consumer. I'm actually going to up my pledge, because $6 / mo is more than worth it for my favorite artist.

I don't understand why some folks are making this more than it is. I have been a fan of Pit for years like most of the people here and yeah there has been a little lack of work coming out but calling Pit a thief and a scam is going too far. I have my pledge at a manageable level where I can Support Pit and I'm putting my wife through college by myself. I just don't see the point of the complaining when we are paying not a lot of money for great art from a great artist....

I'm not going anywhere, I'm just happy i get to see your work man. As for thief and scam? That's harsh as hell, i see a lot of complaining about the money they pay and not having enough of it... then why not lower your pledge to something more comfortable? "But i want voting privileges!" Why complain when you are charged if this is what you want? "He promised us work and he's not working fast enough!" Again, you can either drop your pledge to something lower or you can drop it altogether, easy. I don't know, sorry for the disjointed rant, it's as if people think that complaining and yelling at an artist will make him work faster, all that does is discourage. Don't get me wrong i look at my email a lot looking for his work too, but my payment is comfortable and I'm willing to wait for an artist i love.

Let me preface this by saying i'm sure most if not all are saying what is being said because they are frustrated with how its been and not saying it out of hate or or to "attack" him. With that being, this page and I think about 5 other pages got promised back in march. Some of us here have already been charged for those things. During this time we have only gotten broken promises and crushed hopes. We get an update once a week typically saying "Hard times this, hard times that" then get a sketch typically followed by him trying to "motivate" himself into getting these things done and corrected which also seems to end in the same way. I love his work and have followed for years as i'm sure most have, so when people get up-in-arms it's from the heart. I feel like he has bit off more then he can chew and needs to figure out a steady pace to work at. I don't have an abundance of excess cash just lying around so when I throw a few dollars to another person an see no results it's a bit of a slap in the face.

You're not a thief in my eyes Pit. But you are kind of providing an object-lesson in why artists shouldn't quit their day jobs until they're selling works in galleries. Clearly your creative process isn't on a similar timescale to your rent and utility payment needs, which I don't understand, considering you've declared this is how you want to make your money. I love your work, and I want to support you, but this charging in advance of work is getting tiresome.

I would never accuse you of being a Thief, but I won't deny that the slow pace lately isn't slightly worrying, if mostly cause while you charge a reasonable rate for your Patreon, 15 dollars a month on average is still a hefty amount for those of use with low incomes, so we want to be sure we're getting our money's worth
