Genesis 9 Facial Animation Testing in iClone

Hello Supporters!

I've spent this Sunday afternoon testing out  how to send Genesis 9 figures over to Character Creator and make them  talk. This proved rather difficult at first, and although I've managed  to do this successfully before, the pipeline seems to have serious flaws  (isn't that always the case when data needs to be interchanged between  different 3D programmes, huh?)

After many hours of trial and  error, I think I have a workflow that will allow me to export G9 figures  with visemes successfully now. Interestingly, some characters just flat  out refuse to convert when exported from Daz Studio. My tests suggest  that loading the Base G9 character first, then manually dialling in the  morph slider and loading the textures alleviates the issue.  I'll make a  proper tutorial about this on my main channel at some point.

For  now, enjoy this nice proof of concept with Lahr the Lion, Mira and  Olivia. Notice how there's much more going on than with Walter's mouth  movements from my previous post, due to the fact that I had neglected to  export the viseme blend shapes from Daz Studio (only because I didn't  know any better). With this new way of transferring characters, I should  be able to make Genesis figures talk much better.

The next thing on my list of things to figure out is how to fix the teeth (yeah, they loo ka tad scary on Olivia there) and how to get a GoZ connection for quick geometric fixes between ZBrush and Character Creator going. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Have a  wonderful week everyone, and thank you so much to everyone who came to  the Daz+ stream on Saturday (and a special thanks to those of you who  reached out and told me how much they enjoyed it) πŸ’–
