Hello Supporters!
I have an early access video for you today in response to several viewer comments I've had. It's about retro-fitting Genesis 9 characters onto the Genesis 8 shape. The steps are similar to my previous conversion methods and can all be done inside Daz Studio, but there are some differences and I thought a new video is in order. We can even make use of the Genesis 9 developer tools, and it's nice to show this tool here. Enjoy!
This version doesn't have any supporter credits yet, I'll add those on the release version. On this note, thanks to everyone who's recently signed up through Ko-Fi, YouTube and Patreon! Welcome aboard you wonderful people 😍

Over the last couple of weeks I've been delving deeper into Marvelous Designer (or rather Marvelous Disaster as I'd like to call it). Again I should say! I've been using MD since version 4, which I've bought in 2015 if memory serves me right. I've been trying to make 3D clothing for like 10 years really, but have never actually released anything yet. That's because the process of making a clothing product takes an insane amount of knowledge and time, and every time I think I know enough, there's yet another obstacle that prevents me from getting to the next stage.
One issue I frequently run into is that by the time I know enough about one app, and move on to the next, I've forgotten how to use the previous one! For my pipeline I use Daz Studio, MD, Substance Painter, Blender, R3DS Wrap and ZBrush (not to mention the various 2D apps like Photoshop), all of which you need to know well enough to make clothing for 3D figures. Considering the complexity of these apps, 10 years of learning doesn't seem like such a long time.
Another issue with a timespan this long is that workflows change considerably and frequently. When I started on this crazy journey, Substance Painter was nowhere to be seen, and we've all been happily flood-filling seamless patterns to make textures. There have been several figure releases during this time, new 3D marketplaces have come and gone, and change is at the very heart of the industry. While I embrace new software and technology, we have very few constants to hold onto, and that can be unsettling. It's the reason I no longer develop iOS apps, and why I appreciate retro technology: it "just is" as it always was, without updates and patches.
I feel like I'm finally at a point where I know all/most/enough pieces to the 3D clothing puzzle, and with a bit of patience and dedication I'm hoping to to put them together this year and release a few handsome products on the Daz marketplace (before things inevitably change again). I'm slowly running out of years, so I best get back to it. I'll keep you posted on my progress!
Thanks for reading and thanks for your ongoing support 🙏
