The movie was inaccurate with the value of $16,000,000 in 1944 dollars. A normal gold bar should weigh 400 troy ounces. Times 14,000 bars would equal 5,600,000 troy ounces. At $34 per troy ounce would be $190,400,000 in 1944. Gold has increased in value from $34 per troy ounce in 1944 to around $2950 per troy ounce today.
