Inside the quiet chamber of the cave residence.

Luo Feng sat cross-legged, first swallowing a pill, then eating a fruit, and finally picking up a wine jug beside him to drink.

His soul faintly radiated light- his condition was unprecedentedly excellent than before!

"This is my first attempt at creating a Hunyuan-level Dao. I need to be in peak condition." Luo Feng rarely indulged so extravagantly.

A single pill and spiritual fruit were worth 80,000 reward points, not even counting the wine!

"Start creating!"

Luo Feng already had the Hunyuan Life-Death Dao in his mind. Now, he needed to systematically construct everything one by one!

Between his brows, the Life-Death Eye opened. As his will commanded, mysterious rune patterns began forming in the void before him.

These rune patterns embodied the fusion of life and destruction, naturally blending into one, as if constructing the heavens day by day- a hundred days, a thousand days, ten thousand days... Luo Feng meticulously pieced them together and carefully constructed the rune patterns diagram!

"At my current construction speed, it will likely take about ten epochs to complete." Luo Feng made his judgment.

A Hunyuan-level Dao was far too profound.

Its rune patterns are on the same level as those of an Hunyuan Ancestor-level rune patterns diagram, numbering in astronomical figures.

Every stroke had to be flawless, with no pauses.

Even so, completing it would take roughly ten epochs.

The idea was good, but the actual construction process revealed many unforeseen issues.

Occasionally, Luo Feng had to pause to reconsider and resolve problems. It was like building a precision machine spanning billions of kilometers- flaws undetected in the early stages only became apparent after most of the construction was done, by which point some issues were irreparable.

Creating a Dao was no different. There were many hidden flaws which forced him to patch and adjust as best he could.

By the time the massive rune patterns diagram was fully assembled, eighteen epochs had already passed.

"Finally... it's done!"

Exhausted but exhilarated, Luo Feng gazed at the enormous, floating rune patterns diagram before him.

Though flawed, he had at last constructed a complete rune patterns diagram- vast and profound, fully on par with a Hunyuan Ancestor-level rune patterns diagram!

"The first version of the Hunyuan Life-Death Dao took eighteen epochs to complete!" Luo Feng observed the rune patterns diagram, but its flaws were glaring.

"I can spot so many issues at a glance!"

"Still, at least the framework is established."

This was a framework on the same level as a Hunyuan Ancestor-level rune patterns diagram.

"I've also learned many lessons from this." Luo Feng was satisfied nonetheless.

He was confident his second attempt would be far better.

"Now, let's test it- what kind of clone can be formed using this rune patterns diagram as its foundation?" Luo Feng thought.

Merely observing the rune patterns diagram wouldn't reveal all its flaws, but constructing an clone from it would expose any weaknesses in the body's design.

The energy within the cave residence's chamber was practically infinite for practitioners trapped within the Cage.

With a single thought, Luo Feng gathered vast amounts of energy, rapidly condensing it into a physical form.

This body swelled to 15 billion times energy reserves of his original energy reserves, far surpassing his true form.

However, due to its sheer size, most of it couldn't be perfectly controlled, transforming into a sea of blood governed by formations.

Only a portion maintained a humanoid shape, its surface covered in cyan scales.

The humanoid form stood with an indestructible aura.

Examining this clone, Luo Feng could only laugh bitterly.

The first version of the Hunyuan Life-Death Dao was too flawed to perfectly control such a massive body. Most of its energy reserves had to remain as a blood sea.

The condensed humanoid form is still remarkably powerful. The cyan scales even have some characteristics resemblance to the Blood Scales of the Star Tower.

Luo Feng sensed that, without breaking free from the Cage, no matter how strong this Semi-Hunyuan Life-Death Dao is, it remained confined within the Cage.

Adding too many intricacies to its foundation could grant it extra abilities- but might also introduce fatal flaws.

Many Semi-Hunyuan practitioners made the mistake of overcomplicating their Daos, only to weaken rather than strengthen them.

Though Luo Feng's first version was far from perfect, this clone was already vastly superior to his original body.

While overall control had slightly diminished, the perfectly controlled portion still exceeded 5 billion times energy reserves of  his original energy reserves.

The total energy capacity had dramatically increased, and the humanoid form's combat power had also soared.

It was far stronger than the Semi-Hunyuan Life-Death Dao, but its flaws were also numerous- even his spiritual will consciousness system had been affected.

Through the clone's state, Luo Feng identified even more issues in the first version's rune patterns diagram.

"Scrap it and start over!"

Thus began his second attempt at creating the Hunyuan Life-Death Dao. With the experience of his first attempt, Luo Feng proceeded far more cautiously.

Every rune pattern had to be meticulously placed, as later constructions depended entirely on the earlier foundation.

This time, the process was slightly shorter- fifteen epochs later, the second version of the Hunyuan Life-Death Dao was complete, and far superior to the first.

Luo Feng observed the colossal rune patterns diagram before him. Within it, life and destruction fused seamlessly, each rune pattern shimmering with flowing light.

He can even faintly sense a trace of... a supreme, transcendent power.

RUMBLE-

An inexplicable force tugged at his mind, attracting him.

"I can feel the highest level of power... but it's still out of reach. Just a little more!" Luo Feng murmured.

"This rune patterns diagram is already so close to that ultimate highest level of power."

Luo Feng was very pleasantly surprised.

This second version's rune patterns diagram was still vast, yet even Luo Feng's discerning eyes could find no obvious flaws.

The massive rune patterns diagram was now a unified whole.

Just like an Hunyuan Ancestor-level rune patterns diagram, which resembled the Origin core itself, Luo Feng's current creation also emanated that same essence.

On the surface, it appeared flawless.

"Though I sense the allure of an extremely high-level power, this second version of the Hunyuan Life-Death Dao hasn't undergone a qualitative transformation. It hasn't yet become a true Hunyuan-level Dao." Luo Feng understood this clearly.

Because according to publicly available intelligence from the practitioners' faction, based on the experiences of the seven lords, once one comprehended a Hunyuan-level Dao, their lifeform level would immediately ascend to that of a Lord level!

"Since I still haven't broken free from the Cage, it proves that even this second version is a failure- no matter how close it is to success, it's still a failure!"

If the flaws weren't visible in the rune patterns diagram, then constructing an clone would reveal them!

Luo Feng attempted to create another clone, drawing energy from the cave residence's chamber.

The humanoid form rapidly took shape, and as it did, blood-colored scales began covering its surface.

These scales has an 80-90% resemblance to the Blood Scale of the Star Tower.

The mere presence of this clone radiated an overwhelming pressure.

BOOM!

A natural Rule Domain formed around the clone, its oppressive force capable of even suppressing Luo Feng's original body.

This new clone could have 19.1 billion times energy reserves of his previous energy reserves- even greater than before- yet every ounce of power was perfectly controlled.

His spiritual will consciousness system now fully governed every inch of the clone, and his spiritual willpower had surged to unprecedented heights.

"With this cline... my spiritual will should have already touched the World-Level Hunyuan threshold!" Luo Feng was astonished.

This second version was far too exceptional!
Terrifying energy reserves. Unrivaled spiritual willpower.

"The speed of my thoughts now surpasses even my original body enhanced by countless treasures- by hundreds of millions of times!"

His gaze fell upon the blood-colored scales covering his body- scales so indestructible that they naturally extended and fused, forming a blade in his grasp.

Luo Feng gripped the blade.

"My body can transform into blade." He swung the blade lightly, effortlessly tearing through space.

"I haven't jumped out of the Cage yet, but this clone should be comparable to a High-Level Hunyuan Lifeform!" Luo Feng concluded.

The second version of the Hunyuan Life-Death Dao was agonizingly close to success. Despite remaining within the Cage, this body- both in size and power- could rival a true High-Level Hunyuan Lifeform.

"But in my original plan, I intended to form countless internal energy sources, origin cores. Why hasn't even a single origin cores manifested yet?"

Luo Feng suddenly realized.

"I understand now!"

"In my pursuit of flawlessness, I weakened the aspects of Life and Destruction!"

He decided to keep this second-version clone. With some additional treasures, its cognitive speed, comprehension, and other attributes could be further enhanced.

The third version was obviously far more profound, integrating deeper mysteries of Life and Destruction.

"More perfect."

As the rune patterns diagram completed, Luo Feng felt a resonance with a supreme, transcendent power- so close he could almost grasp it.

The rune patterns diagram was vast and enigmatic, no less profound than an Hunyuan Ancestor-level rune patterns diagram.

"I'm even closer to that ultimate power... but where exactly is the gap?"

"I should try to build a clone."

The energy surged within the cave residence, and the construction of the third-version of the clone began.

Moments later-

A towering, majestic incarnation of Luo Feng stood within the chamber.

"Over 30 billion times energy reserves of my original energy reserves were consumed to create this body." He marveled at its might.

"And within it lies three origin cores, each capable of storing 100 billion times energy reserves my original energy reserves!"

"My mental processing speed is ten times faster than the second version?"

"My spiritual willpower... should now be at the standard World-Level Hunyuan tier."

"My physical body is indestructible."

Luo Feng felt like a living weapon- even his bones and flesh had partially taken on the properties of the Blood Scale.

"Just a little more... just a little, and it'll be perfect. If my entire body structure mirrors the Blood Scale, I'll achieve true immortality- and at that time my flesh will also become the ultimate and the most terrifying weapon!"

He sensed that one final step would complete the Hunyuan Life-Death Dao, elevating him to the Eighth Lord.

At that point, every inch of his body would rival the Star Tower's Blood Scale- indestructible! His whole body would be comparable to the most terrifying weapon, capable of annihilating worlds, unstoppable.

"I need to amplify the Destruction aspect further. Then, my body will be like a weapon, its might even more terrifying... Wait-"

A sudden realization struck him like lightning.

"No!"

"I've been going the wrong path!"

As a Dao practitioner, Luo Feng was free from bloodline corruption or memory pollution, allowing him to recognize his mistakes with absolute clarity.

"Ever since the second version, I pursued flawlessness- forcing Life and Destruction into perfect balance. That's where I started going astray!"

"After obsessing over the balance of Life and Death, I ended up with only three Origin cores instead of the countless I originally envisioned. Worse, my Destruction aspect grew dominant, transforming my flesh toward the Blood Scale."

"But in truth, no matter how close I feel to becoming a lord, following this wrong path will never get me there." Luo Feng realized the problem!

"Because my foundation- the Semi-Hunyuan Life-Death Dao- is originally a life-dominant Dao."

A life-dominant root could never bear the fruit of perfect balance.

That so called sense of being "one step away"? Is nothing more than an illusion.

"My Dao... isn't about balance between Life and Death."

"It's about extremity- to first pursue the extremity of Life."
