Fraudulent Pledges and New Reward Distribution.

It is rather strange to think that I've been on Patreon for such a small amount of time and I've had to deal with four separate fraudulent accounts making false pledges.  What it is most surprising is that Patreon seems completely lenient and permissive to such accounts as instead of banning said accounts these remain unscathed on the site ready to pull off the same stunt on other creators.

Here are the fake accounts I had to block, please do as such and let other Patrons you follow know so they aren't taken advantage off:

Lashawn Hoppe - https://www.patreon.com/user?u=4340217
Shonda Russel - https://www.patreon.com/user?u=4282244
Tina Paucek - https://www.patreon.com/user?u=4233078

It is clear that if Patreon allows for such fraud accounts to be so easily created and does not take steps towards IP banning such scammers, then from now on I'll send the rewards to my legitimate patrons through their emails accounts.

I'll continue uploading the "Early Access" content here but everything for the $2 tier and up you can expect to receive a link for it in your email inbox soon.  So long as your account is in the clear, you will continue getting the content you pledged for, that will remain unchanged.

As for any new accounts, as soon as your pledge is cleared and legitimized, you'll receive that month's content.

Only other update is that I'll make: The older "Early Access" content from months prior will be made available to everyone as those older post are already on my other public art sites.

I have got many fraud pledges last month, so I have written to Patreon about that and this was their reply: If a patron is marked as a fraud, their account becomes suspended and cannot login to access any content from any creator they pledge to. There is no need to block them on your part -- they will not have access to any of your patron-only posts. I ask myself why then if a patron marked as a fraud is suspended there are still so many fraud pledges

Likewise I'm very glad to have you and I'll do my best to continue producing content worthy of your trust and support. The email route is a bit slow but I'll manage, only wish Patreon were to implement a system that discouraged such behavior.

Thank you, but I really wish this were a top priority for Patreon. The crazy part is that on the patron manager page identified those account with the label "Fraud" once they deleted their pledges right before the charge to their account went through, so why are those accounts still up? Anyone who pulls that kind of stunt should just get an instant IP ban. I was a bit suspicious from the start but I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt, only consolation I have is that one of those accounts pledged for the $25 tier "Alternate Version" reward but I noted it saying that once their payment went through they'll get the custom alternate, so since they removed their bid, they got nothing instead.

I agree with Rick W. That it is sad you have to take these measures to protect yourself but I am glad to keep being a legitimate supporter. I like the e-mail idea a look forward to what you send.

It's unfortunate that human nature forces you to take the steps that Patreon can't be bothered to. That said, I fully support whatever measure it takes to protect yourself from fraud.
